Lifestyle Healing Institute Shares an ALS Success Story

NAPLES, Fla., Nov. 7, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — When he started having trouble moving the fingers on his left hand, Tod saw a neurologist for tests. He was stunned by the diagnosis: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. As his symptoms worsened and spread to his legs, Tod traveled from his home in Ohio to the Lifestyle Healing Institute in Naples, Florida, hoping to find relief.

Six months later, after LHI therapy greatly reduced his symptoms, Tod walked his daughter down the aisle at her wedding. He dressed in her tuxedo, tied his tie and shoes, and danced with her at the reception. “If I hadn’t come here for this treatment, I don’t know if I would have been able to do these things,” Tod said.

LHI and Tod, a 60-year-old white man from the Columbus area, share their therapy success story. LHI is a center for complementary and alternative medicine that treats chronic conditions, autoimmune disorders, symptoms of overprescription, and other illnesses with a combination of data-driven clinical methods and holistic therapies to implement lifestyle changes.

When Tod arrived at LHI in May 2021, case notes indicate that he was experiencing fatigue and pain in his distal extremities. He had difficulty using his hands to tie his shoes, and he walked with a drop foot gait. Tod, a former football coach, knew his rhythm had changed. And he remembers buying pants without buttons because he couldn’t manipulate them.

He had an initial meeting with LHI founder Wyatt Palumbo, which he found inspiring. “My wife and I walked out of that meeting and we were both crying because there was hope for a quality of life that we didn’t have before, a better outlook, a better outcome,” he said.

LHI performed extensive tests on Tod’s body chemistry and treated him with a six-week regimen of intravenous therapy, contrast therapy and oral supplements, as well as occupational therapy, acupuncture, and functional and neurological exercises. LHI also implemented changes to Tod’s diet.

From the case notes after six weeks of treatment: “Patient slowed and even reversed some of the clinical findings with marked improvements in his T-cell health, weight change, and sensory awareness, with healthy decreases in ferritin levels and liver enzymes Reported a significant decrease in pain and an increase in their energy levels Showed marked improvement on standardized functional and occupational tests in sensory awareness, body awareness, and weight change where obvious improvements were seen in gait and function”.

Tod agreed with that assessment: “My mobility increased because of the OT; I regained dexterity and mobility in my hand. After working with (my therapist), my stability and balance issues improved.” He also praised his dietary changes, which had “almost immediate” effects in reducing pain in his hands and joints.

She felt so strong that she joined a planned post-wedding trip to Rome, Italy, with her daughter, husband and 17 family members, taking a walking tour of the city with an archaeologist and visiting the Sistine Chapel. “It was absolutely amazing,” she said. “I felt pretty good for the most part, although the gluten-free diet went out the window. I did 25,000 to 30,000 steps a day. I felt good.”

At his 12-month checkup, Tod’s left hand function had decreased, but he had retained many of his improvements, particularly with regard to his biochemistry, balance, protection, respiration, and daily function. “Overall, minimal progression was seen with many improvements that were maintained nearly a year after his diagnosis, which was largely consistent with the neurologist’s follow-up findings,” according to his case notes.

In a recent interview, more than a year after his treatment, Tod said that the LHI treatment is still bearing fruit. “I think it was the focus on body repair, based on the pre-treatment and post-treatment blood work, that caused the massive improvement in my body’s function and also in the physiological way I can move,” he said. . “I have to accept that I’m not going to be refereeing a football game any time soon, but my wife and I went out to the pickleball court the other day and had a great time.

“These treatments allowed me to dance with my daughter at her wedding, which was probably the most special thing I’ve ever experienced in my life,” she said. “If I hadn’t made the decision to come to Florida and get the treatment, I never would have been able to do any of these things, so I’m so thankful for the Lifestyle Healing Institute treatment center.”

Tod’s case will be published in conjunction with Florida Gulf Coast University in hopes of raising awareness about improving quality of life, especially in chronic conditions with no definite cure.
