The sports fashion collaboration is on a winning streak

The Serbian-born designer joins Aries founder Sofia Prantera in the Fila fan club. “Fila and Lacoste were the first two brands that I recognized as such because of the amazing logos,” says Prantera, an Italian living in London. “As we now know, branding has a big effect on young people.” Searching through the archives of Fila and its museum in Biella, the streetwear enthusiast fell in love with the precision with which he used to make sports underwear on rare circular knitting machines and how the label is still relevant today. The union of the Fendi 2018 with collages from Hey Reilly, in particular, stood out for Sofia.

Aries X Fila combines the mythology, art and humor of Aries with a focus on the Fila sailing jacket designed for solo sailing by Giovanni Soldini. The “Black Sail” [Black Sail] edit explores the story of Theseus, who forgets to change the sails of his ship to white, as agreed with his father Aegeus, who upon seeing the black sail, assumes that his son is dead. More trauma occurs. Prantera had a lot of fun researching the story, particularly for the David Sims campaign, which he describes as a cross between Pasolini’s Medea and a Kenneth Anger film. Not your average collaboration, then.
