“We are in a position, as industry leaders, to drive needed change within the beauty industry. We need to create an honest dialogue about racial representation and perceptions within our beauty community. We look forward to the Forces of Beauty® Report help move us all in the right direction,” said Jonah ShacknaiExecutive Chairman of Skinbetter Science®.

Forces of Beauty® is the third product of The DREAM Initiative®, following successful launches of the Curriculum for Advancing Racial Equity (CARE) produced by Solomé Rose Consulting, LLC: the American Academy of Dermatology and other leading dermatological societies are supporting implementation inaugural curriculum in five highly regarded dermatology residency programs-and the Full Spectrum of Dermatology: A Diverse and Inclusive Atlasdeveloped by the co-editors misty eleryanMD, MS and Adam FriedmanMDFAAD.

Forces of Beauty® continues the exploration of the unique relationship between racial/ethnic diversity and the beauty of women. Companies are raising awareness of the need for inclusive and representative beauty, providing education and driving action among medical and consumer audiences.

“Historically, the industry hasn’t included all women in its definition of beauty,” she said. carrie strom, senior vice president of AbbVie and president of Global Allergan Aesthetics. “As industry leaders, our goal is to create a more equitable beauty and aesthetics industry that is centered on diversity, representation and inclusion. That’s what Forces of Beauty® is all about, impacting change and creating space where the origins of beauty are honored, the definition of beauty is greatly expanded, and where uniqueness is the standard.”

As part of its multimedia launch, Forces of Beauty® will be brought to life through a series of engaging and emotional videos, produced by Shutterstock Studios, Shutterstock’s one-stop personalized creative store. The series, directed by Tiffany Francis, will feature four women sharing their stories and experiences with direct links to dedicated chapters within the report: defining beauty, empowering uniqueness, the story of beauty standards, and appropriation. Each chapter will support the report’s overall findings, including: that women of all races strongly believe that “one of us cannot represent us all”; that the standard of beauty should not be defined by a single group; and, that the origins of beauty and cultural practices be celebrated without being exploited.

Coinciding with the launch of Forces of Beauty®, the DREAM Initiative® will also introduce a first-of-its-kind partnership in the aesthetics category with Shutterstock Studios and feature a royalty-free gallery of diverse images available to the public. The thousands of images will showcase beauty across race, culture, gender, age, skill level and body type, bringing to life a key finding from the Forces of Beauty® report that “one of us It’s not the face of all of us.” .” A driving force behind the gallery is the goal of encouraging industry peers to leverage these assets within their own efforts, creating a first step towards collective change towards a more equitable industry. All will be easily accessible. the marketing materials included in https://www.shutterstock.com/explore/dream.

“The DREAM® initiative brought us this incredible idea to create a more diverse set of royalty-free images. And through our partnership in the Forces of Beauty® report, it helped all of us recognize an important gap in the market. Most images used in advertising and branding don’t reflect the diversity we see around us every day, and an online image search reveals how underrepresented many groups are in this space,” said Aiden Darné, Vice President and Global Head by Shutterstock Studios. “Shutterstock surveyed more than 2,700 marketers around the world last year and found that 74% of them would like to have access to more diverse content. This understanding was the catalyst for a unified commitment to close that gap, and we’re excited.” to partner with the DREAM initiative® on this journey to put authentic representation at the center of all creative content.”
