Stray: Tips and Tricks for Beginners

Compared to many other modern video games, Lost it is something like an anomaly. Instead of adhering to all the tropes and trends that modern-day gamers have grown accustomed to, it seems more than content to do its own thing, and is arguably a much better game as a result. However, its unique nature can make it much more difficult for some players to enjoy, especially when it comes to some of the larger areas of the game.

With no minimaps or quest markers, players will need to make a mental note of where certain key locations are, at least in the slums and downtown areas, anyway. They are also expected to engage in some innovative thinking to solve some of the game’s puzzles, and must be prepared to run from enemies rather than face them head-on. With that in mind, these beginner tips and tricks for Stray should help make the game that much easier.

Zigzag to avoid Zurks

As players will quickly learn, the main antagonists in Stray are the kitten-killing Zurks. However, aside from a very brief period between the game’s seventh and eighth chapters, players are encouraged to avoid these little critters like the plague rather than face them head-on, but doing so isn’t as simple as running in a straight line. .

To best avoid the Zurks, players must run in a zigzag. In the event that they are hooked, they will need to spam the Circle button to free themselves, but it is much easier to avoid getting caught in the first place. Zigzagging can also be useful while being chased by security drones, particularly at the end of Stray’s eleventh chapter.

Exploit the terrible AI of the enemy

There’s a lot to love about Stray, though that’s not to say it’s the perfect game. The enemy AI, for example, is incredibly underwhelming, particularly as so much of the game’s difficulty stems from its stealth sections. However, this rare gray cloud does have a nice silver lining, as players can take advantage of poor enemy AI to avoid unnecessary resets at checkpoints.

During Stray Chapter 10, players will need to sneak past security drones at both the Neco Corp factory and the residence where Clementine lives. These drones also appear in the next chapter, though they can be easily avoided by jumping into a cardboard box. Even if a drone sees a player jump into one of these boxes, it will eventually give up and fly away, so players should use this to their advantage when needed.

Don’t rush things

Stray is an incredibly short game by modern standards, with players typically able to complete everything on offer in around five to six hours. As such, players really don’t need to rush things during their first playthrough, and to do so would be a disservice to both themselves and the game’s developers.

Stray’s neon-soaked cyberpunk world is wonderfully well realized, with Easter eggs and secrets hidden in each chapter. Therefore, players should take the time to fully explore these great environments instead of rushing to the finish line. Plus, for the finalists, there will be plenty of time for that during their “I am Speed” trophy run.

Trace the memories of B-12

There are several collectible sets in Stray, including badges, energy drink cans, and sheet music pieces. The most interesting by far, however, are B-12’s memories, which can be triggered by reaching certain points in the story or by examining some of the shiny items that can be found throughout the game’s 12 chapters. .

Through these 27 B-12 memories, players can learn much more about the friendly little companion character and the plague-ridden world in which the game takes place. Learning how B-12 got trapped inside the large computer that players stumble upon in Chapter 3 is incredibly interesting, as is his motivation for helping the cute kitty get to the outside world.

Unleash your inner cat

There are quite a few adorable cat-like actions that players can pull off in Stray. These include scratching furniture, napping in unusual places, and snuggling up against unsuspecting robots. However, the most primary of these is Meow, which players can do by simply pressing the Circle button when using a PlayStation pad.

Although all of the above actions have trophies associated with them (two, in the case of scratching), meowing can be useful in-game. In addition to distracting a robot in the slums into dropping a paint can, players can also meow to distract enemies or lure them into certain areas. Scratching can also be useful, particularly during the final chapter of Stray.

Lost It is available now on PS4, PS5 and PC.
