We’re obsessed with Anne Hathaway’s latest fashion breakthrough: a shiny black corset-style puffer jacket from Versace.
Anne Hathaway has come a long way since she couldn’t tell the difference between blue and cerulean in The Devil Wears Prada. But seriously, when she recently stepped out in what we think is the most edgy coat we’ve seen all year, we were obsessed, and she mixes multiple fashion trends at once.
At the Sundance Film Festival, where Anne attended to represent her new movie, Eileen, she rocked a simple, strapless LBD paired with sheer black tights and platform boots, which would otherwise have been quite a timeless and classic look, if It wasn’t for the coat he was wearing.
Over the dress, Anne wore one of the best winter coats we’ve seen in a long time: a shiny black puffer jacket that had one striking detail: a corset silhouette. This coat was quite a departure from her usual red carpet look, which usually takes shape in maxi dresses. But this time, Anne totally changed the game and came out with a Versace look that no one really expected from her.

The dress underneath was also by Versace, with mesh paneling down the back, creating a nice moment of transparency for what was otherwise a fairly conservative outfit.
Anne fans went completely nuts once they saw this look from the Eileen star, and they even say that the corseted jacket could be another fashion trend coming into foray during 2023. And honestly, this wouldn’t be a Surprise considering how popular corsets have become: it would never have occurred to us to do the silhouette in a jacket. So, bravo, Versace.
One fan even commented on the fact that even though they thought the coat looked like a garbage bag, Anne still defeated the look. “To be honest it looks like someone said ‘Hathaway is so gorgeous she could make a trash bag look good’ and someone else said ‘try it’ and they did it and she could,” the fan tweeted.
The coat and LBD are just one example of how Anne continues to cause a stir in the fashion world. After her appearance at Sundance, she headed to the city of love for Paris Fashion Week, where she arrived in a très chic outfit.
