AIREI Fall/Winter 2023 Collection at Paris Fashion Week

Los Angeles-based brand AIREI recently set foot on Parisian grounds to present its first collection officially scheduled on the Paris Fashion Week calendar. Led by LVMH Award semifinalist Drew Curry, the brand aims to promote the human experience through a realistic lens and spotlights all who go against the norm.

AIREI’s Fall/Winter 2023 installment saw models walk through distressed environments inspired by the humanitarian industries. The unfinished environment gave each aspect a distinct feel against craggy backdrops that were under construction. Titled “Refuge, Deluge, Transfuge,” the mixed collection champions the story of everyday protectors through a compassionate point of view that asks you to “immerse yourself in acts of service and community.”

A baggy identity encapsulates each garment, beginning the showcase with cut-and-sewn shirts paired with ultra-baggy painter’s pants and cement-inlaid ASICS footwear. The elegant two-piece ensembles feature raw edges and asymmetrical finishes, while marble slabs sit on the shoulders and adorn the faces of models gliding down the runway.

The workwear-inspired garments continue, casually accented with dust and paint as if they came straight from a construction site. The quilted pants and button-downs were embellished with intersecting linear patterns that keep the chaotic energy down but remain sleek and simple for casual wear in structural settings.

Protection issues are seen across the board and are reflected through various collaborative projects that encourage civilized practices that help our planet. In partnership with Matter of Trust, human hair used to fight oil spill disasters is absorbed into rugged shirts, hoodies and pants, and also teams up with Dunlop to create rubber clogs and handmade boots out of tires of junked cars. The salmon-colored leather gloves are designed in collaboration with CHURCHILL, assembled from recycled sushi scraps that enhance the sustainable aura of the collection.
