Red Wings lose third straight game in frustrating fashion

The Detroit Red Wings lost their third straight game after another frustrating 3-2 loss against the Florida Panthers. The game was much like their previous game against the Devils, but much closer down the stretch. Fantastic even power play led the Wings, but poor special team play decided their fate.

Jonatan Berggren scored his sixth goal of the year in the minute of play. The Red Wings then left three unanswered until late in the third Robby Fabbri scored his first goal of the year which nearly sparked a late comeback.

Detroit went 0-for-5 on the power play, while allowing goals on both of their penalty opportunities. The Red Wings had plenty of good scoring opportunities throughout, but they haven’t had puck luck of late. Detroit outshot the Panthers 31-20 and won the head-to-head battle 35-19.

Coach Lalonde spoke after the game saying, “If we get any performance on our special teams…we won’t go so far as to say it’s an easy win…but it’s a winnable hockey game.” Lalonde also praised the Florida Panthers goalie. Sergei Bobrovsky “I give him a lot of credit…he stole the game. He was the first star, the second star, the third star… He made all the saves.”
