Old-fashioned Christmas outfit for Agustina | Local news

The holiday spirit will be on full display Saturday in downtown Agustina when the Agustina Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Traditional Christmas at Home.

The day will begin with breakfast with Santa from 8 am to 11 am in GPS Hall. Breakfast is free and includes pancakes, sausage, and eggs.

From 10 am to 3 pm there will be a craft fair and vendors along 5th street. There will be a wide variety of items for sale, including homemade gifts, Christmas decorations, and projects by local artisans. There will also be horseback riding throughout the day.

Cornerstone Dance will host a silent Christmas tree auction from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Santa’s Workshop, where children and families can create a variety of crafts, will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year, Santa (aka Newman resident Fred Schoppet) will be reading a book at 11:30 am in front of the Christmas tree. Schoppet has just published his book “Santa CONFREDENTIAL”. He details the many stories that he has collected over the years as Santa. Copies will be available for purchase at the event.

Photos with Santa will be taken from 3:30 pm to 5 pm at 498 5th Street. One free photo is given with the option to purchase additional photos at the Pioneer Drug Store at 397 5th Street.

Christmas tree lighting and entertainment will begin at 6 pm at the intersection of 5th Street and 4th Avenue. There will be singing and dancing routines performed by local academies.

The Old-Fashion Christmas at Home event culminates in a lighted parade through downtown Agustina. The parade begins immediately after the tree lighting ceremony and entertainment. The parade will proceed east on 5th Avenue, turn left on 5th Street, left on First Street, left on West Avenue, and left on 5th Street. The awards ceremony will be at the Christmas tree.
