Jessica Korda, still in borrowed clothes, is second in the Women’s British Open after Thursday

Jessica Korda’s baggage has yet to arrive in Scotland, but somehow she was not staggered in her first round at the AIG Women’s British Open.

Korda, wearing clothes borrowed from FootJoy, posted a five-under 66 on Thursday and sits in second place after the first round in the main championship at Muirfield.

“I know where it is. I have an air tag,” Korda said of her bag. “I can’t get anyone to go get it.

“On Monday I put on Megan Khang’s pants. On Tuesday I wore my sister’s pants and on Wednesday I wore Alison Lee’s pants. And today I’m wearing FootJoy pants.”

Korda, despite a bogey on her second hole, made four birdies and then an eagle on the par-5 17 to reach 5-under that day, one shot behind Japan’s Hinako Shibuno, who won the tournament in 2019.

Korda, the former LPGA Rookie of the Year, is currently No. 14 in the Rolex Rankings. He has six top-25 finishes so far this year in 10 starts, and his best mark was a second-place finish in the Chevron Championship.

While he still has a long way to go to pull off a win this week, Korda said he has given up on getting his luggage back in time. It has an air tag on it, so you can see it sitting in the airport. But for whatever reason, he won’t make it from Switzerland to Scotland.

“If anyone knows someone at Zurich airport who would like to put my suitcase on the only flight a day they have to get to Edinburgh, I would really appreciate it… If they come here great, but if not, it is what it is. is,” he said. “Right now I’m playing a golf tournament. FootJoy sent me a bunch of clothes. Yeah, we just try to work it out from there.”
