Is Prada Beauty the next luxury to make inroads into skincare and makeup?

This morning, the latest beauty news Instagram @trendmood1 shared a speculative post that the launch of Prada Beauty is imminent.

The news comes after a @pradabeauty handle surfaced on social media, with ‘Turning Beauty On’ written in the bio. The only confirmed information we have at this stage is a new refillable fragrance called Paradoxe, with Emma Watson as the face.

According to @trendmood1, the composition of the scent is as follows:

Top notes: Calabrian bergamot heart, tangerine essence, pear accord
Middle Notes: Neroli Essence and Neroli Bud Essence, Tunisian Orange Blossom, Orange Blossom Absolute, Jasmine Sambac Absolute.
Base Notes: Amber Accord (Ambrofix™), Benzoin Resinoid from Laos, Premium Bourbon Vanilla Infusion from Madagascar, White Musk Accord (Serenolide™).

Prada has been playing around in the fragrance space for years, but the new Instagram and website hint at something bigger. Neither the skincare nor the makeup are confirmed at this time, but the cryptic captions on the initial three posts have the internet buzzing that there is more to come:

“Enter the #PradaBeauty universe. A place to reinvent today’s beauty codes and open new perspectives for tomorrow”

So will the Italian fashion house follow the path paved by brands like Valentino, Dries Van Noten and Gucci? It’s possible. Currently, the website only lists the fragrances, and the floral motifs used also allude to the fragrance, but it seems unlikely that there will be an announcement for a new release.

As for Paradoxe, the bottle is inspired by Prada’s iconic triangular logo and the glass container is refillable. Emma Watson, who has been a friend of the house for quite some time, is also a fitting ambassador, given her ongoing work as an environmental activist.

No word yet on when Paradoxe will be available in Australia, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for an update, as well as more information on the skincare or makeup possibility.
