Five tips and tricks to help you join the VALORANT team

Since VALORANT launched in 2020, the passion of players has been on full display. The last two years have been amazing and we are just getting started. As we continue to push VALORANT forward, we’re looking for more talented Rioters to join our team. In 2022, we’ve hired a ton of amazing people on the VALORANT team and currently have over 70 open positions to fill.

If there’s one thing VALORANT players know, it’s that a little extra information goes a long way. We spoke to Michael Hewitt, VALORANT Talent Acquisition Manager, to get you your very own Recon Bolt for what the VALORANT team is looking for.

1. View your role and complete it

Some people are duelists, others like to initiate. While flexing can be very helpful for moving up the ranks, when it comes to applying, find the position that really speaks to you. You better find that position, match your resume and/or portfolio to the job description, and go for it.

Sending out a generic resume to many open positions at once may seem like it improves your chances, but like trying to spray and pray, you better land one tap on the right position.

That said, people add value in many different ways. We want Rioters to learn and grow on the job, so find a position that speaks to you and aligns with your current skills and experience, but also one that you see as a challenge that gives you more to aspire to as you learn the game. Market Stall.

2. Show your passion

The VALORANT team isn’t full of Immortal players or tactical shooter veterans (those are just playtesters), but it’s full of passionate Rioters who care about this game, its world, and the players who spend time in it. every day.

Whether you’re a veteran player, new to the game but really enjoying it, a lore fan, or enjoy fun stories in esports, showing your passion and why you want to join the VALORANT team will go a long way toward making your app stands out. That could be being an active part of player communities, showing off your knowledge of the game, or recounting some of your favorite moments on a map. Whatever it is, be sure to shout it from the rooftops.

3. Check out Riot’s values

Riot has five values that guide what we do every day. Is it so:

If you read these values and can translate them into your own work experience, you’ll be well on your way to joining Riot and the VALORANT team.

Whether you’ve helped improve the player experience in one of your favorite games or worked well with a teammate to get a task done, any time you can show how your values align with ours, it’s a positive.

4. Connect on social media and build

Our recruiters are super active on social media, specifically LinkedIn, and following them there will give you a quick lead on new positions opening up. (Here’s Michael’s profile) Feel free to send connections and comment on posts if you have any questions for our VALORANT recruiters. We can’t promise that every question will be answered, but connecting and being active on social media never hurts.

On the other hand, make sure your profile is complete with all of your most recent work and experience. Our recruiters use LinkedIn a lot to find and research potential candidates, so having a detailed profile helps ensure they see all of your relevant work. That’s also true for ArtStation and other discipline-specific sites that allow you to showcase your portfolios and work. Having everything available and recognizable helps our recruiters a lot. Check out the art stations and portfolios of some of the VALORANT team to see the work Sabrina, Max, Raquel, and Ben did before they joined Riot, as well as the work they’re doing now.

5. Be persistent

We are committed to continuing to complete this team. Riot is full of amazing people who applied multiple times before it became a reality. Even if a job you applied for doesn’t work out, don’t let that put you off. Try to learn something from the process, ask questions when you can, and apply again for a position that matches your skills.

We have many open jobs and we want to fill them with passionate people. So even if you don’t get it the first time, showing that the passion hasn’t waned at all the next time around will show our recruiters that this is a team you really want to be on.
