SUPIMA announces the details of the 15th annual design competition, organized by Christian Siriano and Coco Rocha

Just before New York Fashion Week, SUPIMA has announced the return of its design competition. Each year, the competition sees students from top design colleges across the country showcase their own collection of nightwear created using SUPIMA cotton fabrics for a chance to win $10,000. On this occasion, the event will take place on September 10 and simultaneously celebrate its 15th anniversary. Helping SUPIMA reach this milestone are designer Christian Siriano and supermodel Coco Rocha, who will co-host the event. This year’s eight finalists include Academy of Art University’s Candice Tianyu, Drexel University’s Chan Kyoo Hwang, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising’s Fabian Renteria, Fashion Institute of Technology’s Bryan Barrientos, Kent State University’s Antonia Bruno, Taku Yhim from the Parsons School of Design at The New School, Hu Jun Yi from the Rhode Island School of Design, and Michelle Sumin Suh from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Jacquemus and Marco Maestri marry in the south of France

Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus married Marco Maestri, his partner since 2018, over the weekend at a posh event. Jacquemus, a native of Salon-de-Provence, appropriately selected the south of France for the event; more specifically, the special occasion was held in Charleval, which is in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. In addition to the stunning setting, the intimate ceremony also saw an A-list guest list parade to the local town hall where the couple married. Among those dressed in their Jacquemus best were Dua Lipa, Jeanne Damas and Tina Kunakey, before Maestri and his mother, Catherine Maestri, arrived in an antique cream-colored MG convertible and Jacquemus arrived on the arm of his grandmother Liline. After the ceremony, the wedding party headed to the Château de Bonneval to continue the festivities.

Harlem’s Fashion Row Announces 15th Anniversary Fashion Show & Style Awards, With a New Award Dedicated to Virgil Abloh

Harlem’s Fashion Row announced today that its long-awaited 15the Anniversary Fashion Show & Style Awards will be held on September 6 in association with LVMH. This year, HFR presents a new award in honor of the late Virgil Abloh, to be presented by his wife, Shannon Abloh. This year’s inaugural award will go to Issa Rae. Also receiving accolades will be Sergio Hudson as Designer of the Year, Robin Givhan as Editor of the Year, Ade Samuel as Stylist of the Year and Janet Jackson as ICON of the Year. In a statement about the event, HFR CEO and Founder Brandice Daniel stated, “African Americans have a rich history in fashion, yet much of their contributions have gone buried or unrecognized in history. However, HFR would not exist without the work of black designers like Lois Alexander Lane, who created the Harlem Institute of Fashion and the Black Fashion Museum. … We are moving into the future by going back to understand, honor and draw strength from our past.”
