California real estate agents go viral for hilarious video making fun of work

Job perks and employee benefits are often used to retain and attract talent to companies, with some managers doling out everything from happy hours to Summer Fridays and everything in between.

A real estate firm decided to mock this notion in a now-viral TikTok skit that has been viewed more than 10.4 million times.

In the video, disgruntled employees are seen talking at a table complaining of “being overworked and underpaid.”

Suddenly, “the boss” walks into the room with two Little Caesar’s Pizza boxes and drops them on the table, arms outstretched proudly as the song “Hero” plays in the background.

The video, which was created by California-based real estate agents North Valley Group, resonated with viewers who agreed they, too, would have taken the pizza as compensation and fallen victim to this tactic.

“Ten bucks worth of pizza every three months will heal all emotional scars and stress, I swear,” one user joked.

“I will say right now, if I made minimum wage but every other day of work the boss buys pizza, this is now the BEST job,” chimed in another.

Even the video’s creators chimed in, captioning the video with a simple “And we ate it” along with a disappointed face emoji.

According to Indeed, the average base salary for a real estate agent in the United States with less than one to more than 10 years of experience is $98,537, not counting commission.

The median wage for US workers in the second quarter of 2022 was $54,132.

The satirical nature of this video, of course, pokes fun at the decade-long trend of companies offering free food and ping-pong tables to keep workers working.
