Badgley Mischka, Tommy Hilfiger return to New York Fashion Week live

NEW YORK, Sept 12 (Reuters) – For the first time in almost three years, Tommy Hilfiger and Badgley Mischka presented their new collections in person at New York Fashion Week.

“It’s really exciting to be back at, you know, real life fashion shows, real life. You know, the interaction with people instead of just Zooms and Facetimes. It’s so much better,” said James Mischka. , who with Mark Badgley makes up half of the American design duo Badgley Mischka.

A recent trip to Morocco inspired her latest collection, which featured nightwear in the bright, bold colors seen in spice markets.

“We spent some time there in the early summer and connected with some beautiful showrooms who helped us with the collection,” Mischka said.

“We often do neutrals, but for us, evening wear comes to life when it’s in color,” Badgley said. “We found that our friends, people, the press, whatever, will remember her and that beautiful tangerine dress.”

The inspiration for Hilfiger’s more casual looks came from the late artist Andy Warhol.

“When I met him in the ’80s, he inspired me to, I would say, surround my brand and myself with pop culture and pop culture icons, which is what he did,” Hilfiger said.

Hilfiger showed off designs featuring the brand’s new logo in the rain at Brooklyn’s Skyline Drive-In movie theater, to an audience clad in plastic ponchos. The parade, which included pop culture stars such as Ashley Graham and model Kate Moss’s daughter Lila Moss, closed with drummer Travis Barker performing an exclusive song.

New York Fashion Week will conclude on Wednesday.
