TikTok is the place to go to find trendy and innovative ideas about anything, including gender reveal parties.
A couple went viral for their unique way of announcing whether they were having a boy or a girl, with a twist on the classic game of tic tac toe.
tik tok user abby tunney shared a video of her and her husband playing an adapted version of the classic childhood game on a constructed board, with each “X” and “O” turning to reveal “Boy” or “Girl” on the other side.
The gender was revealed once the game was over and “Boy” or “Girl” had three in a row.
You can see the excitement and tension build as the video progresses, and the game ends with one more place to turn that decided the gender of the baby.
In the end, the game revealed that Tunney and her husband are having a girl.
While not everyone is on board with the gender reveal party trend, you have to admit that this couple’s video is cute and unique.
Many people on TikTok loved the concept and asked in the comments how they built the vertical tic tac toe board.

Many people criticize gender reveal parties for enforcing the idea of a gender binary and failing to represent how a person’s sex at birth doesn’t always match their gender identity, as reported by Verywell Family. There’s also the fact that multiple gender reveal parties have led to injuries or worse.
But with Tunney’s revelation, it’s hard to deny the sweet and kind way she and her partner found out the gender of their baby.
The TikTok community was very supportive of the video, and it seems like Tunney’s video served as an inspiration to many other parents-to-be who might want to host their own gender reveal party.
