Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India]Aug 5 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday slammed congress leaders who staged a protest in the national capital against inflation and unemployment, claiming the party chose ‘Ayodhya Diwas ‘ to wear black suits to “insult” the Ram Bhakts.
Earlier today, Congress party leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and MP Mallikarjun Kharge, among others, chose to wear black clothes to mark their support following the protests called by Congress workers against the price rise and inflation.
“Today is Ayodhya Diwas, which marks the beginning of the construction of Ram Janambhoomi. All Indians have been waiting for this day for years. Devotees have been expressing their devotion in Ayodhya since morning. The conduct of the Congress leaders on this day to insulting the devotion of the Indians is reprehensible,” said Yogi.
“Until now, Congress protested in normal dress, but today they protested in black clothes. It is an insult to Ram Bhakts and to the democracy of India. Congress should apologize to the people of the country,” he added, criticizing Congress for the move.
While Rahul Gandhi chose to wear a black colored shirt, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wore a black suit.

Rahul Gandhi also said today that the BJP attacks the Gandhi family because we fight for an ideology. “Why do they attack the Gandhi family? They do it because we fight for an ideology and there are millions of people like us. We fight for democracy, for communal harmony and we have been doing it for years. It is not just me who did it” . that, it’s been going on for years,” he said while addressing a news conference earlier in the day.
Comparing Prime Minister Modi to Hitler, Rahul Gandhi said: “Hitler had also won elections, he used to win elections too. How did he used to? He was in control of all the institutions in Germany…Give me the whole system, then I’ll give you I’ll show you how.”
Rahul Gandhi further said: “We are witnessing the death of democracy. What India has built brick by brick, beginning almost a century ago, is being destroyed before your eyes. Anyone who opposes this idea of the beginning of dictatorship is brutally attacked, imprisoned, arrested and beaten”.
