WVU Tech plans a fashion show to raise money for the athletic department

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) – Next month, the West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Beckley will host a fashion show to raise funds. The university is using the event as a way to raise funds for its athletics department to ensure its ability to continue competing at the national level and recruiting athletes.

The show is sponsored by the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority and will feature fashions made by global designers from West Virginia.

Jen Wood, Executive Director of University Relations at WVU Tech, says this unique fundraising approach has garnered nothing but support.

“This is the first exclusive event that we’ve done for athletics in over a decade and so everyone is very excited and very supportive of the campus, people in the community… Our community role models are excited. Our sponsors have been great, and our retailers have been great to work with just giving people the opportunity to do this.”

The Glam Night Out Fashion Show will take place at the Resort at Glade Springs on October 22nd. Here, members of the community will model fashion on a catwalk.

Tickets for the event are $75 and sponsorship opportunities are still available. Visit www.wvutech.edu/glam for more information.
