Ross’s performance, first reported by The Times, will kick off a string of UK dates for the 78-year-old that includes Glastonbury Festival’s legends slot on June 26.

In a statement, the singer said: “I have had the honor of meeting the Queen many times throughout my life, including when with my family. Her Majesty has been and continues to be an incredible inspiration to so many around the world.”

Who else is acting?

The evening will feature a variety of acts as well as stars from elsewhere.

“The evening will revolve around global themes that were born or evolved during Her Majesty’s reign due to extraordinary British and Commonwealth contributions, including fashion, sport, the environment, 70 years of pop music and musicals, the latter curating by legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber,” the BBC said.

Queen + Adam Lambert will open the concert, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Ella Eyre, Craig David, Mabel, Elbow, George Ezra, Duran Duran, Andrea Bocelli, Mimi Webb, Jax Jones, Celeste, Nile Rodgers, SigalaDiversity, Sam Ryder

There will also be a specially recorded performance by Sir Elton John.

Sir David Attenborough, Emma Raducanu, David Beckham, Stephen Fry, Dame Julie Andrews, The Royal Ballet and Ellie Simmonds will also appear.

When is the concert?

The concert, which will be broadcast live on BBC One, will take place on Saturday June 4 at Buckingham Palace.

It will start at 7.30pm and end at 10.30pm, and will also be on BBC iPlayer.

Can you get tickets?

Unfortunately, no, not anymore.

Ten thousand free tickets became available in February, when a ballot was opened to the public to enter their names. It closed at 11:59 p.m. on March 23.

After the cut-off date, tickets will be randomly drawn in a way that accurately reflects the population spread across the UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, and BFPO .
