Bangkok (VNA) – Vietnamese fashion show with the theme “Vietnamese ‘Ao dai’ meets Thai silk” and Vietnamese designer Le Thi Lan Huong with a collection titled “Prosperous Planet” on December 11 were honored as the best show and the best designer respectively in the third Thai Silk International. The fashion week that ran from December 6 to 12 is a tribute to the 90th birthday of Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand. It attracted more than 100 designers from Thailand and other countries, aiming to promote Thai silk and boost their cultural exchange and cooperation.

Participating in the fashion week for the first time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand coordinated with the Thai Silk Promotion Association and the Thai Culture and Promotion Association to organize the show “Vietnamese ‘Ao dai’ meets thai silk” with five collections from Vietnamese designers.

Designer Lan Huong said that her collection was inspired by the life cycle of rice and that she wanted to convey a message of gratitude to mother nature and a call for environmental protection to build a prosperous world where people can enjoy a peaceful life and world. .

Using Thai silk to make’ao dai“, the designer also used hand-embroidered patterns such as the terraced fields of Vietnam or the daily activities of highlanders.

Huong said that she is happy and proud to bring Vietnamese culture to the world.

As part of the fashion week, a panel of judges comprised of renowned Thai designers, artists and cultural officials reviewed and selected 12 outstanding collections for the Thailand International Silk Design Competition.

Hungarian designer Peter Mero and Singaporean designer Ann Teoh took second and third place in the competition./.
