This week, fashion looked to the future. On the fashion week schedule, Bode announced that she will show her FW23 collection in Paris this January, and Marni shared that she will be bringing her next collection to Tokyo in February. A LVMH, Antoine Arnault officially became the CEO of Christian Dior SE, the holding company that operates the largest luxury conglomerate. Elsewhere, the industry saw some hard-hitting collaborations, including Givenchy teaming up with Disney for a 100th anniversary capsule, and Telfar and Eastpak reuniting for a slew of bright blue bag deals.

Antoine Arnault officially took over as CEO of LVMH Holding Company

Antoine Arnault, the eldest son of French billionaire Bernard Arnault, has officially become CEO of Christian Dior SE, the holding company through which the family controls the luxury goods conglomerate. LVMH.

Named chief executive and vice president, Antoine replaces Sidney Toledano, 71, who was president of the LVMH Fashion Group and former head of the Christian Dior Couture brand. Pietro Beccari still holds the title of President and CEO of Christian Dior Couture.

In particular, all five of Bernard Arnault’s children hold senior titles at LVMH. According to Reuters, Antoine’s appointment follows a change in the legal structure of the family’s investments.

Bode will return to Paris Men’s Fashion Week this January

Emily Bode will be bringing her eponymous label to Paris for a show during Men’s Fashion Week in January, according to WWD.

Bode, who will mark seven years at the helm of his antique-laden label in 2023, first traveled to Paris in 2019 for his spring/summer 2020 show, then returned for his fall 2020 show. pandemic, the designer shifted her focus to growing her business nationally, opening a flagship store in Los Angeles.

Bode’s largest direct-to-consumer market is in North America, but on the wholesale side, the brand does best in Europe and the UK. “Everyone goes to Paris for the shows,” he added. “And while we’ve had great success with virtual dating, we felt it was important to show up again.”

Bode confirmed that he may present a retail activation in New York during February fashion week, though he does not plan to replicate the Paris show anywhere else.

A purveyor of natural beauty, Simon Porte Jacquemus presented Jacquemus’ Spring/Summer 2023 “LE RAPHIA” show.

Staged outside of Paris in the commune of Le Bourget, the label’s runway spoke of the brand’s strengths. Look after look, Jacquemus’ fondness for naturally colored pieces, tailoring-focused silhouettes, and architectural design codes became apparent. This season, the designer turned to raffia palm, a fiber native to tropical African regions, to create earthy iterations of him. Sand-colored dried wheat and palm were woven into flowing blouses, suits and skirts, as well as statement bags and oversized hats.

Raf Simons says goodbye with a new SS23 campaign

After announcing the closure of his eponymous label, Raf Simons has left his official Spring/Summer 2023 campaign.

Photographed by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo (known for collaborating with Miu Miu, Christian Dior, Coach, Raf Simons and Jil Sander), the campaign highlights the SS23 collection with a comprehensive vision. While Simons’ rave runway at London’s Printworks received mixed reviews from celebrities, the campaign offers a clear picture of what’s to come from the designer’s final collection under his namesake label.

⁠Raphisms are on full display, with frayed details, harrowing and punk undertones, along with references to kink and work clothes. House signatures, including RS denim, now appear in baby blue, and a black denim shirt tucked into distressed jeans and paired with a dark brown knit is the real Raf.⁠

Marni will present its FW23 show in Tokyo this February

Marni will present its fall 2023 show in Tokyo this February, according to creative director Francesco Risso via WWD. The show, which is expected to host around 2,500 guests, will take place on February 1 at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Japan is one of Marni’s largest markets. The brand’s executive director, Barbara Calò, previously stated that the country accounts for 23% of Marni’s total sales. In 2022, Marni was expected to experience a 30% increase in sales from Japan compared to 2021, and according to recent data, the brand has exceeded that figure with a 31% increase.

The Japan show will mark the second leg of Marni’s roadshows, following the brand’s New York City runway in September, which took place under the Joralemon Tunnel in Brooklyn. Risso told WWD that he has four roadshows planned, though he doesn’t know of the remaining two locations at this time.

Gucci unwrapped its Après-Ski collection

Enter Gucci Après-Ski, the Italian house’s official offering of coordinating garments and accessories, perfect for a winter getaway to de-knot (or relax).

The collection takes inspiration from skiwear, with coordinating ensembles ideal for snow, logo-covered knitwear and bright puffer jackets. The lineup also previews ready-to-wear and accessories from an upcoming adidas x Gucci installment, with co-branded emblems decorating staple silhouettes and heritage bags.

In footwear, Gucci launches a variety of silhouettes ranging from archetypal walking and snow boots. Between them, the brand introduces four pairs of new Gucci x adidas lace-up boots, appearing in bold colors with technical canvas, metal eyelets and rope laces.

Gucci Après-Ski will be available in Gucci boutiques as well as on the Gucci website, with special pop-ups in Courmayeur, Cortina, Courchevel, Verbier and Kitzbühel.

Givenchy celebrated 100 years of Disney with a new collaboration capsule

Following their inaugural collaboration in May, Givenchy and Disney teamed up to create an all-new capsule collection starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, in honor of Lunar New Year and the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company.

For the collaboration, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a first in character animation history, makes a graceful exit from the Disney vault, ahead of the Year of the Rabbit. Fusing the fun-loving character’s mischievous spirit into the range, Givenchy Creative Director Matthew M. Williams curated a “one-time world tour” collection for the vintage character, drawing inspiration from New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Tokyo and beyond.

disney’s x givenchy The capsule collection will be available from December 16 in China, Singapore and at the Tokyo Ikebukuro pop-up. The collection will launch at the Miami Aventura pop-up on December 19 and will be available globally beginning December 30 on Givenchy’s website. Prices range from EUR 220 to EUR 3,790.

Telfar and Eastpak continue their bag magic with a new collaboration

After joining forces in April, Telfar and Eastpak reconnected for an all-new bag offering that blends the former brand’s popular shopper bag designs with the signature tech fabrications of the latest Boston-founded brand.

In the new collaboration, the duo offer a host of exclusive Telfar silhouettes, including the Telfar Shopper Medium/Large, Telfar Shopper Small, and Telfar Circle. Finished in bold “Painter’s Tape,” the accessory features black handles and straps, as well as a co-branded logo.

The Eastpak x Telfar III collaboration launched earlier this week on the Eastpak website.
