Do you know the “Child of the Corn”?
Chances are, the viral sensation has already stolen your heart, and even made a cameo appearance in a recent Chipotle video via Twitter.
Your introduction to the world
It all started when Tariq, aka Corn Kid, appeared on Recess Therapy in a video posted on Instagram and TikTok.
The platform is known for interviewing children in New York City playgrounds and has 2.2 million followers on Instagram and more than 180,000 followers on TikTok, at the time of this writing. Some of that following may have come from the Corn Kid, who made quite the impression as he hilariously reveled in his love of corn.
“Ever since I was told corn was real, it tasted good. But when I tried it with butter, everything changed. I love corn,” Tariq told interviewer Julian Shapiro-Barnum.
“Look at this thing!” he continued. “I can’t imagine a more beautiful thing!”
Tariq then closes the interview with possibly the most memorable sound bite.
“I hope you have a fantastic day,” he said. “What?! It’s just a pun on corn!
Song “It’s Corn”
Fast forward and the interview has become a viral song produced by TikTok user @schmoyoho. The proceeds will be divided between Tariq and his family.
“Hey folks! We’re so excited to announce that, in partnership with Tariq, his family, and @schmoyoho, we’ve released ‘It’s Corn’, the official song for this crazy corntastic moment we all created together! All proceeds will be split with Tariq and his family. So please support and listen to it! It’s streaming everywhere,” he said rec on TikTok.

Chipotle and other associations
That won’t be the only bag Tariq will secure thanks to his time in the spotlight.
Recently, Tariq also appeared in a video on Chipotle’s Twitter, which begs the question: how much will he be paid for these appearances?
It’s unclear how much she earned for that specific look. However, according to Romper, Tariq joined Cameo to create ballpark content “ranging from $145 to $400 corporate videos” as the “Corn Kid”.
On the other hand, AfroTech inquired about a Corn Kid video and discovered that their fee starts at $200.

Plus, with add-ons like “more instructions” and “expedited delivery,” plus taxes and fees, you could be looking at a total of $500 per Corn Kid.
