Moncler celebrated 70 years with a historic fashion film

Following its massive display in Milan’s Piazza del Duomo last week, Moncler unveiled a new film celebrating the brand’s achievements over the past 70 years. The image, titled The Brand of Extraordinary, is narrated by GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Alicia Keys and includes a series of iconic scenes from Moncler’s history as a fashion house.

The video begins with the founding of the brand in 1952 and then follows their selection to outfit the Italian expedition on their journey to the K2 summit of the Himalayas. Later, a montage shows Moncler’s deep roots in athletics and luxury fashion, alternating shots of the brand’s designs for the French alpine ski team at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics and shots of models from modern style with the famous brand jackets.

“Difficult isn’t the enemy: boring is,” says Keys in a voiceover. “Since that first day, we have become the brand of the extraordinary, inspiring everyone to conquer their highest peaks, whatever those peaks may be.”

Jacquemus

Jacquemus opened the doors of his first boutique this week. Located at 58 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, the two-story outpost dominates 200 square meters of a 20th-century Art Deco building. The interior is very bright, with crisp, all-white walls and décor, mimicking the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2022 “Le Papier” runway palette held in the salt hills of Aigues-Mortes, in the south of France.

In addition to the obvious clothing and accessory display racks, the store is packed with several fun details, including a vault-like ATM that dispenses cups of popcorn, an oversized popcorn machine, and round mirrors that resemble those of Pierre Cardin. In addition, the space includes a VIP lounge for more personalized experiences.

“This is a dream come true for me, it is very symbolic to be back on Avenue Montaigne 11 years later. The first time I was there was when I showed my third collection during Vogue fashion night in front of everyone in 2011,” said designer and founder, Simon Porte Jacquemus.

Supreme

This week, reports indicated that Supreme may open a new store in South Korea. Notably, the New York label registered a trademark in the country and the move is believed to be part of a larger expansion into Asia.

The trademark of the Chapter 4 corporation was officially announced on September 2 this year, although the brand originally applied for certification in 2018. Although the brand has not made any announcement, it will soon be protected by South Korean law, which means rumors of a store in Seoul will likely come to fruition.
