Goat

Taking the fashion and footwear world by storm, GOAT announced its upcoming acquisition of the online fashion marketplace, Grailed. The business deal was done in a cash and stock deal that is expected to close in about 43 days.

Since its founding in 2015, GOAT has been a mainstay for sneaker lovers around the world. But in 2019, the platform also expanded to apparel and accessories. With the new acquisition, Grailed’s thrift store approach will bring a new lever to GOAT’s operations.

“Grailed is a leader in the menswear resale market with a strong community of style enthusiasts,” said Eddy Lu, co-founder and CEO of GOAT Group. “We have always admired what they created for the fashion industry, and we will continue to build on their strengths and position as a leader in the space. Together, we will advance our collective mission to bring together the best products of the past, present and future, while delivering innovative and memorable experiences to our community around the world.”

Taking place during Los Angeles Fashion Week, Ralph Lauren staged his recent Spring/Summer 2023 show at The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California. Aptly titled “The World of Ralph Lauren,” the show featured looks from the renowned American designer’s Polo, Purple Label, Double RL and Ralph Lauren lines for men, women and children.

From western-inspired denim ensembles with faded details to relaxed ensembles in natural tones, the offering was filled with Lauren’s signature refined touch. As such, tailoring served as the mainstay of the collection, as always, with silk double-breasted blazers, striped blazers, relaxed suits and more. As well as updated classic looks, the show was also bathed in bold color with relaxed neon-hued skirts, multicolored knitwear, preppy rugby shirts and more.

Billionaire Boys Club

Pharrell and NIGO’s Billionaire Boys Club has now landed in sunny Miami, Florida. With the continued success of the streetwear imprint, the brand is now expanding its operations to Miami’s ever-growing art district. The art studio-inspired space was designed by Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham’s New York-based installation studio SNARKITECTURE. Up to this point, the store front features a variety of displays, modern artwork, and brand-inspired designs.

“I am very grateful to have the opportunity to bring our flagship store to Miami. It will be a place where people can come in to be inspired by the combination of fashion, culture, art and design,” said Pharrell Williams, founder of BBC ICECREAM, in a statement. “I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve created here, it’s really special.”

In addition to housing their collections, the store will include a variety of exclusive collaborations from Comme des Garçons, Human Made, Bamford, Humanrace, Baggu and more.

After a series of unsavory comments and actions by Ye, which included attacking Vogue’s managing editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, displaying violent “White Lives Matter” T-shirts at her YEEZY SS23 fashion show in Paris, making false claims about the death of George Floyd and furthermore, many entities are beginning to move away from multi-hyphenate creativity. Now, Balenciaga has officially ended her relationship with Ye.

Initially, several quiet actions suggested that the relationship might have gone south. To date, the house has removed images of Ye from coverage of her runway show along with the removal of YEEZY GAP ENGINEERED BY BALENCIAGA from stores, the website and international retailers. Before Ye’s more recent antics, Balenciaga and Ye have a particularly strong public relationship. In a WWD exclusive released today, it has been announced that the French house has officially severed ties with the artist.

“Balenciaga no longer has any relationship or plans for future projects related to this artist,” Kering told WWD.
