Sustainable beauty brand Junoco raises $6.3 million Series A

San Francisco-based sustainable skincare and beauty brand Junoco, best known for its clean, minimalist formulas with over 200 million social media views, recently announced a $6.3 million Series A led by Vision Plus Capital with the participation of Frees Fund.

Recycled ingredients and recyclable packaging

Junoco was founded by businessman Kyle Jiang and the first employee of beauty giant IPSY (now Beauty For All) Mira Peterson. The brand’s #1 bestseller is a 10-ingredient cleansing balm that has sold over 500,000 pieces in its first year of release.

The brand formulates its products no microplastics and when possible, use recycled ingredients in their formulas to reduce waste and reuse materials that would otherwise go unused. Their packaging is recyclable and made of FSC-certified material to ensure that the materials used come from ethically managed sources.

Development of new products

Series A will be used to introduce more SKUs with 10 ingredients or less on it, upgrade your current collections to 80% refillable packaging and incorporate more recycled ingredients in future collections.

This summer, Junoco will also launch its own skin positivity campaign, #ToBeHuman. With the mission to show that true beauty has no limits. “Normalizing and celebrating real skin and real bodies will help show the world that it is our inherent right to be celebrated because real skin has acne, texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration. Real fur is beautiful because it is individual and serves its purpose of protecting people’s bodies. Uniqueness should be celebrated, in people and with the world around us,”, the brand said in a statement.
