Stylish sporty sandals that shoe snobs will love

My history with impractical shoes is long. I’ve trampled hilly, sidewalkless cities in vintage brocade mules, and staggered through New York Fashion Week in six-inch, pointy stilettos. I slipped my feet into too-small sparkly ballerina shoes and shuddered through the work day, running six miles before donning suede boots with stacked heels and stomping through the New York subway system. But as I’m currently writing this story while nursing a nasty case of “fibular tendonitis” (IYKYK) from too much walking/jogging and not enough foot support, it becomes clear: sporty, comfy sandals are my answer to a bed without limp. summer.

So does this mean it’s time to stock up on Tevas? Not so fast. While I do enjoy old-school hiking basics from time to time (both the OG silhouette and one of the brand’s many fashion-friendly updates), it still feels a little too crisp for my personal style, which it sits on a weird line between playful and chic Sure, I could go the extra mile to pair them with the high-waisted shorts, fitted vest, and cleverly crinkled socks… but I don’t have time to put in that extra effort every morning . I want a shoe option that does all the work for me.

Chanel’s cult-favorite dad sandals (a luxe, quilted, brocaded take on exactly what they sound like) certainly do just that. And thanks to fantastic fashion fans (see Eva Chen and TZR’s own Hannah Baxter), I’m heavily influenced to take the $1500+ step it costs to buy a pair; if I’m going to splurge, after all, it might as well be in something comfortable and stylish. And yet, there’s still a little voice in the back of my head reminding me that there have to be plenty of other equally coveted options worth exploring first.

Enter, the knit designs below, all of which would stand up to the floatiest of warm-weather dresses and would also look amazing with stiff, straight-leg jeans. I’m sure they’ll also keep my sore feet comfortable and supported while I’m getting better, but this time I might not go back to my habits… well, at least not every day.
