Ronnie Brown will walk in a national fashion show

Ronnie Brown, 21, has already taken New York Fashion Week by storm, and is now participating in the world’s largest fundraiser for people with Down syndrome.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Ronnie Brown, 21, of Pflugerville continues to check off his list of accomplishments.

Brown has fought against all odds to continue completing his list of achievements. This list includes runway modeling, painting, community activism, being an ambassador for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas, competing as a Special Olympics athlete, and acting in commercials.

Last year, Brown walked the runway at New York Fashion Week as part of the “Runway of Dreams Fashion Show.”

And now, on November 12, Brown will be a featured model at the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 14th Annual Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show in Denver, CO. After taking place virtually for two years during the pandemic, the fashion show will be back in person this year.

“He would come home and walk around the house. So we sent out his submission and he was selected! I told Ronnie we got the news in the mail, I opened it up and he’s been practicing ever since,” Brown’s said. sister latasha rodgers

“I can show you my moves,” Brown said.

In addition to his list of accomplishments, Brown is also the founder of a potato chip business called The Fry Guy. Brown successfully launched his business in 2020, and for the past two years he has been sharing his infectious laugh while serving up delicious fries to members of the community.

“I can’t say enough about how supportive this community is from his teachers to his coaches. When we started, I just put him on our little community Facebook group, and people came to the house and we sold the rest of the house. It was amazing to see people continually rooting for us not just once or twice, but asking ‘when are you guys going to have another event?'” Rodgers said.

The annual “Be Beautiful Be Yourself” fashion show benefits the Global Down Syndrome Foundation and is the largest fundraiser for Down syndrome in the world. The event is attended by more than 1,400 guests each year and has raised more than $24 million for Down syndrome research, care, advocacy and education.

Asked if Brown still needs to practice his walk down the runway, he’s confident he’s ready.

“Got it!” Brown said.

Brown hopes that by participating in this event, and many more to come, she can inspire others and especially people with Down syndrome that anything is possible.
