Raf Simons to debut at London Fashion Week

Burberry will return to the official London Fashion Week lineup this September after showing off the calendar, the British Fashion Council said in its provisional calendar published on Monday.

JW Anderson will also return after a few showing seasons in Paris and Milan, while Prada co-creative director Raf Simons’ eponymous label will be shown in the British capital for the first time.

“Showing London has been a dream for a while, a city where fashion and creativity are ubiquitous on the streets, and where I see exceptional people with strong, unique style,” Simons said in a statement.

It marks a boon for the event, which in recent seasons has lacked the big brands that normally act as a draw for international publishers and buyers. Last week, Victoria Beckham confirmed her plans to perform in Paris.

Burberry, JW Anderson and Raf Simons join London Fashion Week as Simone Rocha, Erdem and Roksanda, as well as emerging talents like Nensi Dojaka and Supriya Lele.

London Fashion Week was a more regional affair this season, but the city’s young talent held the fort, punching well above their weight, reports Susanna Lau.
