Peabody’s stylist to work at New York Fashion Week | Local news

PEABODY — Local stylist Stephanie Agneta will soon be working with very special clients: models at New York Fashion Week.

The 26-year-old lifelong Peabody resident is co-owner of Salon CC and has styled for independent movies, small TV shows, and local residents throughout her career. Now, she will be working on her biggest project yet.

“I love styling and the people you meet,” said Agneta. “I am very grateful for the Internet because that is how I had the opportunity to be at New York Fashion Week.”

New York Fashion Week’s hair and makeup director messaged Agneta after seeing her work on Instagram. After an interview, he asked Agneta to join a team of 30 other stylists who will be working on fashion shows in the Big Apple from September 9-14.

Agneta will primarily wear ponytails, beachy waves, and other looks that match the summer aesthetic of designer clothing. They will often be very simple to show off the fashion best.

She hopes to be invited back to the next New York Fashion Week in February.

“That week is more of an avant-garde style,” said Agneta. “It’s more of that dramatic, artistic style that I like, especially for sculpting.”

Agneta began her career through the cosmetology program at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. After graduating in 2014, she and her mother, Rochelle Agneta, opened Salon CC.

Rochelle Agneta is not a hairdresser. She originally owned an oil company that she started from scratch, but she always dreamed of owning a spa. When her daughter finished her cosmetology program at Peabody High, she went back to school to learn how to do nails.

Eight years later, the salon and spa moved to a larger location at 58 Mills on Pulaski Street and now employs 18 stylists. In addition to doing hair and nails, Salon CC offers skin care, massage therapy, and spray tanning.

“It’s like a big family,” said Rochelle Agneta. “I really love what I do and I love having something to add.”

His daughter has built up a large clientele, he said, and if he has to leave home to take advantage of better opportunities, so be it.

“I hate to see her venture to the point of leaving me and moving to California, but if that’s what it is, it will be,” he said. “But I am very excited. and I am very proud of her. She’s done more in eight years than I’ve seen some of our girls do in 30 years.”

Stephanie Agneta’s experience includes her apprenticeship as a hairdresser on the television series “The Old Man,” starring Jeff Bridges and premiering this summer. She also works as a stylist for a movie that Endicott College graduate students shot before the start of the pandemic.

“There are so many other paths barbers can take, and I think when people walk in, they just think about getting their license and sitting behind the chair and serving clients 12 hours a day, six days a week,” he said.

“You’re always on the grind,” he continued. “So when you get the chance to work onstage or behind the scenes or for small independent movies and TV shows doing hair and makeup, it’s really cool to be a part of that and see the big picture at the end.”
