Nick Kyrgios defeats Novak Djokovic in an entertaining exhibition clash

Nick Kyrgios prevailed in a wildly entertaining exhibition clash against Novak Djokovic, just days before the Australian Open.

Last year’s Wimbledon finalists turned from enemies to friends last year and packed Rod Laver Arena on Friday night for a charity event.

Kyrgios clinched the 4-3 (5-3) 4-3 10-9 victory in crazy fashion, and the final turned into hilarious chaos as wheelchair players Heath Davidson and David Wagner teamed up as doubles partners. .

There were serves under the arm, many sledges and even the winner of 21 Grand Slams forgot the ‘Fast Four’ rules for the match.

Djokovic entered the match under a cloud of injuries, with a troublesome hamstring that could put his return to Melbourne Park in doubt.

But in a fantastic sign for the Serbian superstar, he made it through the match with no holds barred and looks ready to line up for the Australian Open when it kicks off on Monday.

Kyrgios, on the other hand, has had a quiet preparation for his Grand Slam on home soil, withdrawing from recent warm-up tournaments and the United Cup, citing a minor ankle problem.

The 27-year-old is expected to be one of Australia’s main Grand Slam hopes following a stellar 2022 campaign.
