A handful of players “turned heads” in Thursday night’s NFL Draft before “playing only one down in the league because of their draft-day outfits,” according to ESPN.com’s William Ricks. Jewelry was a “common theme” on Thursday, as several players wore “some stunning chains and pendants to complement their look.” Other players wore their suit jackets as a “fashion statement with bold colors, special designs, and sentimental messages.” Cincinnati CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner “brought a big dribble to the draft,” as he “rocked two flashy chains brandishing his famous nickname.” One of the pendants is a gravy bottle, a “suitable addition to Gardner’s wardrobe”. He also donned a blue suit that “combines well with the ice around his neck” (ESPN.com, 4/28). Liz Roscher of YAHOO SPORTS noted that Alabama WR Jameson Williams arrived in a “red fire engine suit with a huge medallion around his neck.” Georgia LB Nakobe Dean’s look was “one of the most unexpected of the night.” He wore a “pastel pink suit, a white leather holster, and a brown hat with a matching pastel pink band” (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 4/28).

EDGY FASHION: The recruits’ fashion choices made headlines on ESPN this morning. Gary Striewski of ESPN said of OT Ikem Ekwonu’s white suit with green trim: “Don’t go near a relish in that suit.” He added of WR Garrett Wilson’s outfit: “It seems he creates NFT in his spare time, going with the pearls. That’s cutting edge” (“SportsCenter,” ESPN, 4/29).
