New York Fashion Week Spring 2023 Details to Know

Public Service Announcement: The official (albeit preliminary) schedule and details for New York Fashion Week Spring 2023 are now available. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), in association with IMG, has just released the September show lineup. The event will kick off on Friday, September 9 and continue through Wednesday, September 14. For those planning on taking part in the event, either virtually or in real life, it’s time to start preparing (and your wardrobe) for the six-a-day affair now.

Several established international labels are joining the NYFW program this time. For one thing, Swedish brand COS will make its NYFW debut on September 13 (minimalist fashionistas rejoice!). In a major turn of events, Fendi (yes, you read that right) will be putting on a special show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Baguette bag on the evening of September 9th. Lastly, Milan-based brand Marni will be joining the ranks of NYFW entrants as well: in the words of Marni creative director Francesco Risso, the Milanese label is “going on tour.”

So far, more than 100 designers have been confirmed to participate in the main fashion event. As always, new collections from well-known heavyweights like Tory Burch, Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra and Michael Kors are scheduled to hit the runway next month. Additionally, brands like Tommy Hilfiger, AREA, and PUMA will also return to NYFW after taking a break from seasonal runway shows. Emerging fashion designers such as ASHLYN, One/Of by Patricia Voto and Tia Adeola also join the program for the first time, as well as CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund 2022 finalists Fe Noel, Sukeina, No Sesso, Elena Velez, Judy Turner, Wiederhoeft and Black Boy Knits.

The tailoring event will kick off with a showcase of the Lázaro Hernández and Jack McCollough 20th Anniversary Collection for Proenza Schouler on Friday, September 9. NYFW’s closing act will be Tom Ford’s runway show on Wednesday, September 14 at 8pm EST.

This year’s shows also hold special significance, as the CFDA itself celebrates its 60th anniversary. “As organizers of the official NYFW calendar, we are incredibly proud to launch a lineup that reflects our founding principle: to promote American fashion on a global scale,” said the council’s executive director, Steven Kolb, in a statement. “We celebrate the collective excellence, diversity and resilience of our industry and look forward to a strong U.S. Collections season alongside our esteemed international guests.”

All in-person events at NYFW will be conducted in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines and best practices, as outlined by the New York State Department of Health. Just like last year, both shows and presentations will continue to be presented through RUNWAY360, CFDA’s one-stop digital fashion hub. See the full NYFW schedule at cfda.com. Then stay tuned for more updates from TZR related to fashion week.
