New York Fashion Week brings Filipino designers into the global spotlight:

New York Fashion Week once again brings together the best designers, models, celebrities and artists for a packed fashion show. Fashion industry insiders, leading figures, top brands, influencers and celebrities take part in a highly anticipated fashion season. Seeing everyone dressed to the nines at such events is always a treat, and there are always some jaw-dropping fashion moments that every fashion lover, trendsetter, and style enthusiast is looking forward to.

Throughout fashion week, Filipino designers are making their presence felt and attracting a lot of attention from international fashion figures.

Two of them were global fashion icon Michael Cinco and Hollywood fashion star Alexis Monsanto wowing the fashion week faithful with back-to-back shows. Located inside a gothic church in the heart of Manhattan, New York, inspired by a theme from the galactic universe, surrounded by beams of light and a state-of-the-art third presentation. Monsanto and Cinco took the audience into an immersive experience while showcasing timeless styles, fashion and tradition.

The Opening Billboard set the stage for a highly anticipated event with its spectacular and dramatic visuals. TOFA President Elton Lugay, along with Vicente Gesmundo and Lowel Magan of LX2 Entertainment, gave warm welcome speeches to the audience.

As anticipation grew among the crowd, Monsanto introduced its delicious and tempting Sugary Confections collection. Inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s muse from the movie Sabrina, the cuts are very ’50s and ultra-feminine, luxuriously soft, with narrow waists and wide hips. The colors and textures resemble confectionery treats like French macaroons, which are deliciously decadent, elegant, creamy and silky. Soft fabrics are luxurious and effortless, exquisitely embellished with minimalist ornamentation, adding a sense of sensuality and sophistication. Additionally, Monsanto also showcased its custom floral prints on Poi de Soie & Mikado fabrics, which were visible on its pants, suits and jackets. Monsanto attributed his love of flowers to his childhood memories of his mother’s garden, whose influence transcended his designs.

His NYFW show attempts to transport the audience to a different era and time through the narrative of his creation. The looks began with a beautiful model wearing a striking jumpsuit with jacket and knee-high boots, which set the tone for the rest of the collection. The elegant sunburst blush pink maxi dress with ostrich feather cape stole the show as her adorable model twirled and glided down the runway. In the moments that followed, she delighted the crowd in a ragged lemon chiffon turtleneck trapeze top over a pair of cream silk skinny pants. It was a moment of wonder that filled the air. Known for its exquisite designs, this year’s Monsanto collection focused on the details of skirts, collars and delicate finishing touches, using its new pleated origami scale design developed in Florence, Italy. Dresses, tops and shoes are mainly adorned with bows, which give the pieces an ultra-feminine touch. She ended her performance with much delight and beauty in the final walk, a tribute to Queen Elizabeth showing French tulle fabric with fan folds overlaying gradient of very royal champagne, mauve and lilac colors adorned with French tulle braided minimalist. belt that was so regal.

Quite a spectacular show. Once again, Monsanto captured the audience’s attention, evoking different emotions from the crowd at different stages of fascination. After the final vote, the public showered him with flowers as a sign of thanks. There was no doubt that his performance captured the admiration and hearts of the viewers and the people of New York.
