JD Sports Fashion

JD Sports Fashion, a retailer of sports, fashion and outdoor brands, announced that Régis Schultz was appointed as the company’s new CEO, following an extensive executive global search process.

It is expected that Régis will join JD in September, at which time Kath Smith will undertake a full handover of her duties to Régis during a short transitionary period. Smith will then resume her former role as senior independent director on the board.

Most recently, Schultz was president of retail at Al-Futtaim Group, a Dubai-based conglomerate that is partner to companies across the automotive, retail, financial services, real estate and health sectors. Prior to joining Al-Futtaim, he was CEO of Monoprix, France’s food and fashion retailer that is part of Groupe Casino.

Abercrombie & Fitch

Abercrombie & Fitch Co., a leading, global omni-channel specialty retailer of apparel and accessories, announced that Felix Carbullido will no longer serve on its board of directors.

After three years with the company, Carbullido is stepping down from A&F Co.’s board due to an increase in responsibilities given his newly appointed role as president of the Williams Sonoma brand of Williams-Sonoma Inc.

Ryan Ross was named president of Neiman Marcus and JD Sports Fashion appointed Régis Schultz as the company's new CEO.

Neiman Marcus Group (NMG) appointed Ryan Ross president of Neiman Marcus, effective Aug. 15.

The new dedicated brand role is established to fuel acceleration by strengthening the brand and customer experience. Ross will report to Geoffroy van Raemdonck, NMG CEO.

Ross was previously president of Williams-Sonoma, where he was responsible for driving integrated channel strategies, customer growth and evolving the relevancy of the brands.

Lana Todorovich, president and chief merchandising officer of Neiman Marcus, remains in her current role reporting to Ross. Todorovich leads merchandising and buying for Neiman Marcus. She and van Raemdonck will continue working together closely to cultivate luxury brand partnerships.

In addition, David Goubert, chief customer officer of Neiman Marcus, will depart the company.

Torrid

Torrid Holdings Inc., a direct-to-consumer apparel, intimates and accessories brand in North America, announced that Tim Martin was appointed to the role of chief operating officer and chief financial officer (CFO), effective Sept. 12.

In addition, Hyon Park was named chief technology officer.

Martin most recently served as executive vice president and CFO of Guitar Center, where he was responsible for accounting and finance, real estate, sourcing, distribution and logistics. He will replace Tanner MacDiarmid, who has served as interim CFO, and will continue to serve the company on a consulting basis.

Park joins Torrid from Belk Inc. where he served as executive vice president and chief information officer. Park will report to Martin and will lead the IT team.

ThredUp

ThredUp, an online resale platforms for women’s and kids’ apparel, shoes and accessories, announced that Noelle Sadler joined the company as its chief marketing officer (CMO).

Sadler is the company’s first dedicated CMO in nearly five years and will report to ThredUp president Anthony Marino, who previously oversaw marketing. Sadler joins ThredUp from online fashion retailer Lulus, where she most recently served as CMO.

ThredUpP has processed more than 125 million unique secondhand items from 35,000 brands across 100 categories.

Dollar General

Dollar General Corporation appointed Ana Chadwick, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Pitney Bowes Inc., to its board of directors.

With Chadwick’s election, Dollar General’s board now consists of nine members. She will serve on the board’s audit committee. Dollar General operated 18,356 stores in 47 states as of April 29.

BigCommerce

BigCommerce, an open SaaS e-commerce platform for B2C and B2B brands, announced that Gap Inc. chief growth transformation officer Sally Gilligan and The Container Store CEO Satish Malhotra have joined its board of directors.

Gilligan and Malhotra were appointed to the vacancies created upon the departure of BigCommerce board members Steve Murray and Jack McDonald, who served since 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Man Wah

Man Wah Holdings hired April Winters Kelly as vice president of sales.

Kelly will head up a new division supporting the fast-growing fashion lifestyle retail vertical and bolstering its ability to support its retail partners across America.

Kelly spent the last 17 years leading the sales and marketing division of McCreary Modern. The new position will support Man Wah’s continued investment and expanding capacity in Mexico, Vietnam and China.

Global furniture manufacturer Man Wah, headquartered in Hong Kong, has more than 20,000 employees worldwide and more than 6,000 retail franchises in Asia.

Tapestry Inc., a New York-based owner of luxury accessories and lifestyle brands including Coach, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman, announced that Tom Glaser, the company’s chief operations officer, has decided to retire.

To ensure a seamless transition, he will remain with the company until Oct. 1. In keeping with Tapestry’s succession planning, Scott Roe, who has been chief financial officer since June 2021, will take on additional responsibility as chief operating officer.

In this newly created dual role, Rose will continue to lead the finance organization while expanding his scope to include oversight of operations across Tapestry’s multi-brand platform, including supply chain and information technology. As part of these changes, the company’s CEO, Joanne Crevoiserat, will assume direct oversight of Tapestry’s strategy and consumer insights team, which formerly reported to Roe.

Burberry

Burberry Group announced that Alan Stewart was appointed to its board as a non-executive director and member of the audit and nomination committees, effective Sept. 1.

The company also announced that Matthew Key will be retiring as a non-executive director in July 2023, following completion of nine years of service. It is anticipated that Steward will replace Key as Audit Committee chair at that time.

Steward was chief financial officer (CFO) of Tesco from 2014 to 2021. From 2010 to 2014, he was CFO of Marks & Spencer.

Li Ning

The board of directors of Li Ning Company Limited announced the appointment of Zhao Dong Sheng as group vice president and chief financial officer.

In these positions, Zhao will head the finance department and assume full responsibility for the financial and treasury functions of the company, as well as investor relations. He previously worked for Swire Coca-Cola (China) Co., as finance general manager.

PVH Corp.

PVH Corp. appointed Ajay Bhalla, president of cyber and intelligence at Mastercard International, to its board of directors.

His appointment is part of the board’s on-going refreshment process bringing together business leaders with a diverse range of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives to support the PVH+ Plan to accelerate growth by building on PVH’s core strengths and connect Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands closer to the consumer.

In connection with Bhalla’s appointment, the number of directors constituting the full board will be increased to 12.

Apparel Impact Institute

The Apparel Impact Institute (Aii) appointed Stephanie Warrick as industry engagement director.

In this position, Warrick will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and building Aii’s programmatic partnerships with global brands, manufacturers and service providers. She will develop and maintain projects, strategies and tools for industry partners working toward environmental impact goals, while maintaining visibility and alignment across Aii’s programs to maximize and grow program results related to environmental impact and revenue. Warrick will report to chief impact officer Kurt Kipka.

Warrick most recently was senior sustainability manager at Lululemon. Prior to that, Warrick developed AstraZeneca’s responsible supply chain strategy and led strategic planning for its Ambition Zero Carbon program.

Aii identifies, funds, scales and measures proven quality solutions to accelerate positive impact in the fashion industry.

Genomatica

Genomatica named its first chief legal officer, Shawnte Mitchell, to help fuel the company’s rapid growth.

Mitchell was previously executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Zogenix, where she helped the public company achieve a successful exit through an acquisition by global biopharmaceuticals firm UCB.

At Genomatica, Mitchell will be responsible for growing the legal team and serving as a trusted partner as the company continues to scale and sprint towards their mission to change how materials are made.

Genomatica is developing and scaling sustainable materials derived from plant- or waste-based feedstocks instead of fossil fuels. Geno’s technology, built over the last 20 years, now drives materials and ingredients in applications ranging from apparel and carpets to cosmetics and home cleaners.

Trade

World Bank

The World Bank appointed Mara Warwick as its new country director for China and Mongolia, and director for South Korea.

Based in Beijing, Warwick leads a team that is managing an evolving partnership with China, a growing program of support to Mongolia, and a deepening knowledge partnership with South Korea focused on innovation and technology.

Most recently, she served as country director for Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Previously, Warwick worked as portfolio and operations manager for China, Mongolia and South Korea from 2012 to 2016.

An Australian national, Warwick succeeds Martin Raiser, who has moved to Washington, D.C. to take on the role of vice president for South Asia at the World Bank.

The World Bank also named Auguste Tano Kouamé as country director for India, replacing Junaid Kamal Ahmad, who recently completed a five-year term.

Auguste, a national of Côte d’Ivoire, most recently served as the World Bank’s country director for Turkey. India is the World Bank’s largest client with a portfolio that includes lending of $3.98 billion from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and $83 million from the International Development Association last fiscal year.

Logistics

XPO Logistics

XPO Logistics Inc. announced that Mario Harik will succeed Brad Jacobs as CEO of XPO and join the board of directors following XPO’s planned spin-off of its tech-enabled brokerage platform in the fourth quarter.

Jacobs will remain with XPO as executive chairman and will become non-executive chairman of the spin-off. XPO further announced that Harik was named president, less-than-truckload (LTL), after serving as acting LTL president since October 2021. The company plans to become a pure-play LTL transportation provider in North America by completing the brokerage spin-off and the divestiture of its European business.

As of June 30, XPO’s North American LTL business had an integrated network of 294 terminals, equipment assets of approximately 8,200 tractors and 27,000 trailers, and 25,000 accounts in diverse verticals served by approximately 22,000 employees, including 13,000 professional drivers.

For the full year 2021, XPO’s North American LTL business generated $4.1 billion of revenue and $618 million of operating income.

XPO Logistics’ global network serves 50,000 shippers with approximately 749 locations and 43,000 employees, and is headquartered in Greenwich, Conn.

Traffix

Traffix, a North American Logistics provider that recently surpassed $1 billion in revenue, promoted Greg Shnerer, Jeremy Schlachet and Scott Sears to executive vice president, giving the company additional strategic leadership in the US, Canadian and Mexico operating units.

Traffix offers a suite of customizable services, including truckload, flatbed, intermodal, drayage, expedited, LTL and managed transportation. The company is headquartered in Milton, Canada, with its U.S. head office in Chicago.

Bazaarvoice

Bazaarvoice Inc. named Colin Bodell as chief technology officer (CTO).

As CTO, Bodell will be responsible for accelerating global technological innovation in support of Bazaarvoice’s ambitious growth objectives.

Prior to joining Bazaarvoice, Bodell was vice president of engineering at Shopify, working to scale the Shopify Plus platform.

Bazaarvoice’s global retail, social and search syndication network, product-passionate community and enterprise-level technology provide the tools brands and retailers need to create smarter shopper experiences. The company is headquartered in Austin, Texas, with offices in North America, Europe and Australia.
