Neon Acquires Laura Poitras Documentary ‘All The Beauty And The Bloodshed’ – Deadline

Neon has acquired the rights to Participant Laura Poitras’ documentary All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, which will hit theaters this fall followed by a companion and digital release.

Making its world premiere in Venice, the image is the central selection of the 60th New York Film Festival and is also screened in TIFF format, Reps Neon’s third collaboration with Oscar winner Poitras. Neon founder/CEO Tom Quinn launched Poitras’ Academy Award-winning Citizenfour, which was also produced by Participant.

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed follows internationally renowned artist and activist Nan Goldin, told through her slideshows, intimate interviews, groundbreaking photography and rare footage of her fight to hold the Sackler family accountable for the opioid crisis. . The film weaves together Goldin’s past and present, the deeply personal and the urgently political, from PAIN’s actions at renowned arts institutions to Goldin’s photographs of his friends and peers through his epic The Ballad of Sexual Dependency and his legendary 1989 AIDS exhibition censored by the NEA. The theatrical release of All the Beauty and the Bloodshed will coincide with This Will Not End Well, a retrospective of Goldin’s work opening in October at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, which is scheduled to embark on an international museum tour. which includes the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
