Molly Goddard wins the Goodwood Talent in Fashion Award 2022

Molly Goddard has become the second winner of the Goodwood Talent in Fashion award, which celebrates the exceptional work of rising British designers.

Having studied at Central Saint Martins, Goddard quickly captured the imagination of the fashion world with her voluminous tulle gowns that combine a sense of frivolity and joie de vivre with haute couture. She launched her self-titled label in 2014 and has since gained a bevy of star fans, including Jodie Comer, Rihanna, and Cindy Sherman.

Last week, he followed in the footsteps of last year’s winner Richard Quinn and unveiled a trio of fresh designs during the opening ceremony of the Qatar Goodwood Festival, which will later become part of the permanent Goodwood Collection.

Each piece was inspired by the rich artwork and interiors of Goodwood House. A crimson ruched taffeta gown trimmed with pink velvet bows was inspired as much by the 18th-century clothing worn by the first Duke of Richmond as it was by the extravagance of the home’s ballroom. Meanwhile, a gloriously bright daffodil-colored gown with a hand-drawn smock correlates to the Yellow Drawing Room, and a stark pink gown with a fitted bodice and eye-catching ruffled skirt is reminiscent of a 1758 portrait of the 3rd Duke of Richmond painted by Joshua Reynolds. .

The aim of the award is to support visionary talent while building a collection of one-of-a-kind pieces that will form part of a wider legacy of modern fashion at Goodwood.
