Local Entrepreneur Helps Others Find a Healthier Lifestyle

For many of us, change can be difficult, but it could be the start of a new adventure you never imagined possible.

Personal trainer and owner of Godlike Fitness, Dwayne Kidd decided to launch his business in 2020 just as the pandemic hit. Previously, the Port Huron resident enjoyed eating McDonald’s and all the other unhealthy items we love to indulge from time to time before deciding to make a change.

“Honestly, I got tired of being out of shape, gasping for air going up stairs, and not being able to be as active as I wanted with my kids,” says Kidd.

Motivated to change his health and his feelings about his appearance, he started watching YouTube videos with different trainers, nutritionists and other professionals.

“At one point I was 261 pounds,” says Kidd. “After the diets and YouTube videos, I took classes to get certified in sports nutrition, personal training, and holistic nutrition. I dropped my weight to 170 and felt much better physically.”

He also began to take the necessary steps to not only improve himself, but also to help others who were seeking a healthier lifestyle.

“Ultimately, my goal is to do my part and spread love and positivity to as many people as possible,” says Kidd. “Make them love themselves inside and out.”

Godlike Fitness offers a variety of services and options for fitness beginners and veterans alike. Kidd says the first session is free for clients to give them the experience and find out if the training style is right for them.

“We offer our clients advice on nutrition and what works best for their specific goals, meal planning and personal training, of course, but I’d like to expand into other areas of health and fitness in the future,” says Kidd.

Big dreams and the ability to adapt to change will take you places you never expected.

“I would love to have my own gym franchise one day, as well as work with celebrities and other high-profile clients,” says Kidd.

Since starting her business, Kidd has been appearing at numerous community events to promote her brand and healthy lifestyle. She will be participating in a pop-up store at Port Huron Nutrition on Sunday, September 4 and offering a free group workout on Sunday, September 11.
