The internet has been left in stitches after they saw a viral video of an escalator lowering a woman’s pants.
We’ve all had that fear, whether it’s one of your shoelaces getting caught in the escalator blades or looking up at your phone too late that you trip instead of gracefully exiting.
For most of us, that’s all it is, a fear that will never make its way into reality, leaving us free to get on with our day after we get off.
But for Aine Geraghty, that nightmare came true.

In a viral video shared on the social media platform TikTok, Geraghty could be seen lying at the foot of an escalator with her bag and other items nearby.
As the camera panned down, you could see his pants being pulled down after they got caught in the teeth of the escalator.
Fortunately, she managed to see the funny side of the strange situation and was seen laughing throughout the clip.
Since it was shared on Tuesday, the video has managed to accumulate some 2.7 million views.
The vast majority of commenters also saw the funny side and were eager to share the strange moment.
One TikTok user posted: “I know you’re mortified but you’re taking it better than me. It’s funny.”
Another added: “At least you were with a friend. Imagine if that happened alone. You would have to move to Mexico and change your name.”
A third said: “That just unlocked an extra level of anxiety in my brain. I’m laughing, but it’s not funny.”
Others, however, shared their fears about escalators, noting that they would be more careful in the future.
One posted: “I’ve always been terrified of escalators, even as a kid. Now I know my feelings are valid. Nothing has happened to me either.”
In an update video, Geraghty revealed that she then cut her dress from the escalator’s teeth with a pair of scissors.
Newsweek has contacted Geraghty for comment.
There have been numerous times where embarrassing videos have gained traction on the social media platform.
Earlier this month, a hilarious video went viral after a boy in the UK told the postman why his mother couldn’t come down to see him.
In the clip, the boy uttered the immortal words: “Mommy is upstairs pooping.”
The postman replied, “Oh, tell him there’s a package in the closet.” He then he made a quick retreat.
