Kid Cudi presents the MOTR fashion line at Paris Fashion Week

Kid Cudi just unveiled his MOTR fashion line at Paris Fashion Week on Friday (January 20). Also, the name means “Members of Wrath”, pronounced “engine” for short. The 38-year-old previously teased the event in December, pointing to a unisex, boundary-pushing collection on the horizon.

However, Cudi wanted to start a fashion line about eight years ago, but felt “discouraged” by the process. While she was working on an animated sci-fi movie in 2021, she revisited the idea. After losing Off-White founder, Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director, and good friend Virgil Abloh in the same year, she felt even more compelled.

“There’s no way I could have designed this collection without thinking about him every day,” she told Vogue. “Every day, it was like, ‘What would Virgil do? What decision would he make and how would he manage his team? What kind of atmosphere would he have in the office? Since he was the ideal designer, he was the template. He was nice, affable, open and friendly with the people on his team, he helped other people and lifted other people up, he gave them opportunities, he left the door open behind him.”

Also, according to Vogue, the “GHOST!” The artist made the presentation in a Paris showroom and showed autumn and winter pieces for the year. In addition, it included polo shirts, padded vests, long skirts, leather jackets, dirty knitwear, and fur coats. Plus, there are accessories and footwear like faux fur caps, oversized sneakers, and a boom-box shoulder bag.

“I want people to feel like they are walking on stage when they wear this brand,” the Ohio native stated, “I want them to feel the feeling I get when I perform at Coachella, I want them to feel like superstars.

“I just put my hands in the paint and do things, I just do what I think is cool and I try to follow that vision,” he continued. “Is this something that I would wear, that my friends would wear?’”
