Junya Watanabe Man FW23 Collection Paris Fashion Week

Junya Watanabe MAN has revealed a chic and mostly black collection for its Fall/Winter 2023 season at Paris Fashion Week.

This season falls on the opposite spectrum of his Spring/Summer 2023 collection, where bursts of color were brought to the runway with an amalgamation of pop culture references. Maintaining a unique monochromatic color scheme this season, the show began with an introduction to suits in tailored tailoring. Simple black blazers and slim-fit pants with a slight utility look, including a zipper detail that opens from the heel to mid-calf. Various versions of blazers in mixed materials were on display, combining leather with wool and even nylon.

Nylon details were included throughout the collection to create a practical aesthetic. The blazers featured nylon pockets throughout, as also seen on fisherman’s vests and padded crossbody bags for added functionality. The words elegant and understated come to mind with many of these looks. To add to the technical aspect of the show, Junya Watanabe MAN expands his collaborations with Carhartt WIP, Palace, Levi’s and New Balance. A padded GORE-TEX nylon winter jacket and Palance stole the show, as did a multi-pocket interpretation of the windbreaker jacket and double-breasted work jacket with Carhartt. An all-black Levi’s jumpsuit with white stitching throughout remains a standout memory, as do New Balance 650s in all-black suede.

Junya Watanabe MAN takes biker style to the next level, taking the structure of biker safety gear, including helmets, knee and elbow pads, and incorporating them into the final part of the collection. Added technical details are seen in coats, blazers and pants. Check out the full collection above.
