JD Sports returns to Hammersmith after a decade away

‘King of Trainers’ Retailer Sports is set to mark its return to Hammersmith in west London after a 10-year absence with a new 4,000-square-foot store on King Street, due to open on Saturday 26 November 2022.

Formerly a New Look store, unit 33-35 is in the Livat Hammersmith building, which used to be known as Kings Mall.

Reinforcing its status as the UK’s leading trainer and sportswear retailer, JD Sports aims to provide local residents and Hammersmith shoppers with its range of branded merchandise including Nike, adidas, the north face and Hoodrich, just in time for the main holiday shopping season.

Sneaker lovers will be treated to a new shoe customization bar, which will allow customers to choose from a range of colored laces and hardware to “help refresh and personalize your winter look.”

The King Street store, which is creating 27 new local jobs, expects to welcome 35 million visitors a year, located between two major London Underground stations and Hammersmith Broadway bus station.

The 59-foot-wide, double-height storefront will feature “winter window locations” of influencers, musicians and athletes from JD’s 2022 ‘King of The Game’ ad campaign, which launched earlier this month. The ad features footballers James Maddison and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both currently with the England team at the World Cup in Qatar, boxer Antony Joshua and rapper and West London native Central Cee.

James Air, Group Head of Acquisitions at JD Sports, said: “We can’t wait for our magnificent new store in Hammersmith to open, just in time for Christmas shopping. The store is the perfect size for our customers and will stock all major product lines. We have been looking for the right property here for some time.”

Natalia Petelina, Venue Manager at Livat Hammersmith, commented, “Livat Hammersmith provides the community with a convenient retail destination as well as a space to meet, hang out and enjoy new things. We are delighted to have JD Sports open.”

Customers are encouraged to visit the store this opening weekend with DJ Raymond providing the soundtrack.
