Now, after going 27-5 during his three seasons as Jackson State head coach, Sanders is heading to Colorado to take over the Buffaloes after a 1-11 season.

According to Brian Howell, Sanders’ five-year contract with Colorado is worth about $29.5 million.

This includes $5.5 million for its first year, followed by an annual increase of $200,000.

But this is far from Sanders’ first big payday.

Drafted fifth overall in 1989 by the Atlanta Falcons, Sanders, also known as Primetime, spent fourteen NFL seasons with the Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins (as they were then known).

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Sanders made around $45 million during his time in the NFL.

However, Sanders was also a star in the MLB, being selected in the 30th round of the 1988 Amateur Draft.

He spent nine years in the major leagues, playing for the Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants, earning another $13 million.

During his playing days, Sanders also made quite a bit of money through various endorsement deals with Nike, Pepsi, Burger King, and American Express.

He reportedly has a current net worth of around $45 million.

Little is known about Sanders’ current home or where he chooses to spend his money, with his social media accounts filled mostly with photos and videos of his coaching life.

What is known is that he used to own a 29,000-square-foot home built within a 112-acre property in Prosper, Texas.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the home, which he sold in 2014, is known as ‘Chateau Montclair’ and contains ten bedrooms, as many bathrooms, and an entertainment wing that includes plenty of areas to satisfy your sporting desires, such as a bowling alley. , basketball court and indoor soccer field.

It also contained a theatre, a hairdresser’s and a billiards room.

The property also contains an eight-acre lake, a dedicated area for fourteen cars, and a private dock.

The one thing that is known when it comes to where Sanders chooses to loosen the purse strings is in jewelry.

Sanders has been known since entering the NFL for his fashion, and in particular his icy chains.

In fact, while coaching for Jackson State, Sanders could regularly be seen with multiple chains, championship rings, and even a golden whistle around his neck.

But it’s not all about the shine.

In fact, Sanders turned his back on much of that after a failed suicide attempt in 1997.

Speaking on the Journeys of Faith podcast with Paula Faris in 2019, Sanders explained how he hit rock bottom during the height of his powers.

He explained, “Hitting rock bottom for me was just being in the middle of a game when everyone was screaming when they didn’t know your middle name.

“Ripping bottom for me was having hundreds of suits and not covering the pain. Hitting rock bottom for me was having hundreds of pairs of shoes but couldn’t take a step in the right direction.”

“Rock bottom for me was having ten cars and not going anywhere. Rock bottom for me was having a 14,000-square-foot house but never feeling at home.

“Bottom for me was sleeping with two or three women at a time, but you wake up unsatisfied. Bottom for me… yes, I was bleeding.

Now a successful coach, NFL Network announcer, keen fisherman, father of five and a happily engaged man, Sanders’ remarkable life is entering its next chapter.
