‘I know the rule’: Black Cap Blair Tickner stripped of wicket against Ireland

Talk about being denied a wicket in the cruelest way possible.

Black Caps closer Blair Tickner thought he had claimed the eighth ODI wicket of his career against Ireland in Malahide on Wednesday morning (NZ time) but was robbed in comical fashion.

The sweat towel stuffed in Tickner’s back pocket fell out just after the handover with Ireland’s Simi Singh closing in on goalkeeper Tom Latham in the 43rd.

Tickner raised his hand in celebration and went down to join Latham, only for the umpires to call the ball dead and reverse the decision.
