The TikTok algorithm knows that I love beauty. In fact, the app has quickly become my go-to place for product recommendations, easy-to-follow instructions, and helpful, practical beauty tips.
Of course, not every trick lives up to the hype, after all, there is no shortage of beauty content on the app, but in the past few months I’ve tried and loved three TikTok beauty trends so much that I feel morally bound to share to them.

The skincare routine that saves me from overexfoliation
If you haven’t heard of the skin cycle, the skincare routine created by New York dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe, let me introduce you. The evening routine involves “cycling” different skincare products for four nights to ensure your skin stays hydrated and never over-exfoliates.

As someone who is hyper-aware of damaging her skin barrier, this four-day routine allows me to use a chemical peel and a retinoid (I know both are very important for my 31-year-old face) without going overboard. The three makeup products that create the perfect skin foundation
If you’ve spent any time on BeautyTok, chances are you’ve seen this viral video claiming to know the secret to flawless celebrity makeup. According to the unverified makeup artist, the secret to the perfect foundation is a hydrating foundation, Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, and skin tint, not foundation.
In the original TikTok, which has close to 500,000 likes, creator Savannah Rae Collins applies all three products, using a wet beauty blender to blend the last two.

While TikTok recommends Becca’s Backlight Primer, which is no longer available after the brand’s closure, and Elf Poreless Putty Primer as a substitute, other TikTokkers have replicated the look using several different products. And the trick that made me even more obsessed with my Dyson Airwrap
As a recent Dyson Airwrap convert, I’ve been searching TikTok for any hack that promises to make the hairstyle even better. If you’re not too familiar with the Airwrap, it’s a do-it-all kind of hair dryer and styler that leaves you looking like you just walked out of the salon, whether you’re going for bouncy curls, beachy waves, or just want every strand sleek and frill-free. This trick works to keep your Airwrap curls in place longer with the use of hairspray and some bobby pins.
