Harry Styles evolves from heartthrob to fashion icon

Harry Styles will never be just a singer-songwriter, now he’s also an actor and a fashion powerhouse.

The former member of British pop boy band “One Direction” has changed his musician skin for the lead male role opposite Oscar nominee Florence Pugh in the highly anticipated dystopian thriller “Don’t Worry Darling”, directed by Olivia Wilde.

The film had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on Monday, taking the internet and the world by storm with behind-the-scenes controversies and, above all, fashion.

The styles hit the Venice carpet in a navy Gucci suit with wide, statement shoulders and a very pointed collar, Harper’s Bazaar executive editor (digital) Sarah Karmali told The Associated Press.

Laura Jordan, director of fashion and lifestyle articles for Grazia magazine, said Styles’ partnership with her stylist Harry Lambert has created “absolute magic.”

″(Styles fashion) always had this kind of retro camp vibe. She loves the big collar, the tinted sunglasses, lots and lots of Gucci,” Jordan said.

In 2018, Styles began building his brand and personal style by becoming one of the ambassadors for the Italian fashion house Gucci. Styles has worn the brand in several editorial campaigns, but most notably was the dress he wore for the November 2020 cover of Vogue. The musician and actor was the fashion magazine’s first solo male cover star.

The much-talked-about cover featured Styles in an open green field under a clear sky and dressed in a blue gown designed by Alessandro Michele for Gucci that was lined with black lace for a touch of contrast, multiple tiers of ruffles, and to top it all off, a classic black blazer.

Since his transition from boy band member to solo artist with several best-selling albums, he’s become synonymous with a signature quirky look: a colorful array of ’70s-inspired oversized three-piece suits and flared-bottom jumpsuits. and an occasional feather boa. , imitating the likes of Elton John.

Every outfit for her “Love On Tour 2022,” which currently includes an impressive 15-day residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden, spawns a pattern, literally.

Dressed exclusively in Gucci every night, Styles has rocked a two-piece jumpsuit filled with different patterns ranging from stripes to dots, all in different colors including bright shades of red, pink, blue and yellow.

If there’s one thing to take away from the evolution of Styles’ personal wardrobe, it’s that it’s personal, eclectic, and most of all, fun.

“Harry Styles knows exactly who Harry Styles is,” Jordan said.
