Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has criticized striker Serge Gnabry for an “amateur” trip to Paris Fashion Week between games as the Bundesliga champions had a mixed start to the year with two draws.

Gnabry posted photos of himself in various outfits on Instagram on Sunday during a day off after Bayern drew 1-1 with RB Leipzig on Saturday.

He returned to the squad for Tuesday’s match against Cologne but was substituted at half-time as Bayern needed a 90th-minute goal to salvage another 1-1 draw.

“That’s amateur. That’s exactly what I don’t like. It’s not Bayern Munich to be playing when you have a day off,” Salihamidzic said after Tuesday’s game in comments reported by Germany’s dpa news agency.

“A day off is meant to rest so you can advance in the next game,” said Salihamidzic, who said he would discuss the matter further with Gnabry.

The off-pitch activities of Bayern players have been in the spotlight after goalkeeper Manuel Neuer broke his leg while skiing during free time after the World Cup. He is ruled out for the remainder of the season.
