Getting ready for the Fashion Awards with Elsa Hosk

The annual fashion awards returned to the Royal Albert Hall last night, celebrating the industry’s brightest talents and their work over the past 12 months.

Among the well-dressed guest list was model Elsa Hosk, presented by Flannels this year, who told us it was one of her favorite events of the year to attend. “I love celebrating passion,” Hosk told us from her car on the way to the venue. “I think it’s one of the best events in London and you get to catch up with all the designers. Everyone is wearing the best outfits, it’s just fabulous.”

Below, we talk to Hosk about her love of fashion, her ideal setup for getting ready, and what makes her feel confident on the red carpet.

What’s the inspiration behind your outfit for tonight’s awards?

“I’m wearing a bespoke Miu Miu ensemble. It’s a bra with a matching long skirt, which I think is just my thing. It’s the Miu Miu we love from the runway, but this time with sparkles, and with the leather belts. that we’ve seen become popular makes a really cool contrast I love the color seafoam green I don’t always wear color on the red carpet so I’m really excited to wear this we’ve seen Miu Miu everywhere [this year] And my dress is kind of a red carpet version of that.”

What makes Miu Miu fit so well with your style?

“Miu Miu has had such a great time this past year, so it’s been really exciting for me to see everything they’ve come up with and put on the runway. It’s been such a creative and iconic moment in time for the brand. “Funny too! My stylist and I saw this dress and immediately felt like it was the one, it was the target dress and it fit perfectly. It was meant to be.”

How involved are you with the styling process?

“I’ve always been very specific when it comes to the red carpet; sometimes I even do it on my own. I do all my street styling, I don’t have a stylist every day. It’s so much fun for how I love designing and looking at the runways. to see what all the designers come out with each season. So it’s definitely a very close working relationship when I work with my stylist Dani. [Michelle].

“This time, she sent me pictures of different looks from different designers and I think she knows me well enough to know that this was the look I was going to lean towards. When it comes to accessories, everything was going to be Miu. Miu With jewelry, we had more freedom, so it was a collaborative process: we try everything on and see what works and what doesn’t. When it comes to hair and makeup, I always start with the outfit and then see what’s going to work with hair and makeup.”

What kind of outfits make you feel the most confident?

“It’s very different when it comes to the red carpet compared to my personal way of dressing from day to day, where I’m very comfortable and everything is too big and hunched over and doesn’t show much of my body. When it comes to the red carpet , I’m the complete opposite – it’s almost like an alter ego and I like to go with everything – if you want it to feel like a moment and inspire people then you need to wear something that is a statement, whether it’s through what you you wear or your hair and makeup I love to have fun and be really creative I can be sexy and in my daily life I am [more laidback]. It’s like the complete opposite.”

How has your style evolved over the years?

“I’ve become more timeless in the way I dress every day. I’ve never been one to buy a lot from high street brands and have instead leaned towards vintage or investing in really high-end pieces and good quality so I have to buy less for my wardrobe I think that has become more important to me as I get older I am appreciating pieces that stay in my wardrobe forever compared to things I will wear once. I’m becoming more conscious and moving away from trends.”

How has your confidence evolved on the red carpet?

“A lot. My knowledge of fashion has grown and so have the people I work with and the team I have now. It’s so amazing and amazing when you find the right people who share the same vision as you. It all pulls together and it makes you feel much more comfortable to actually go out there and serve.”

What has been your most memorable fashion moment in recent years?

“When I launched my own brand earlier this year. It was great preparation for something I’ve always dreamed of doing. All the things I’ve learned over the years came together in this brand – it was a huge moment for me.

“I’ve always loved clothes. Being a model, you try on more clothes than anyone else and start to understand fabrics, fit, and what looks good on the body in terms of proportions and materials. I’ve worked with amazing designers, stylists, and photographers, so I’ve tried to incorporate all those lessons into the design of my collections.”

What is your ideal setup to prepare for?

“It’s all about the music. When you’re working, you can feel stressed when hair and makeup are late because there’s never enough time. So for me, it’s about having a nice atmosphere. We get ready at the Chiltern Firehouse, which its one of my favorite hotels in london it has a great atmosphere and the music is always on point my friend does the music for the hotel so i came in with the best songs playing the service is always wonderful and you can take it easy with a coffee”.

Whose style have you always admired and why?

“There are so many. Marilyn Monroe, of course, what an icon. I love Jane Birkin’s style, she has that cool, sexy, French girl vibe that’s so easy going. I also think Zoë Kravitz always looks amazing on the red carpet But there are so many people who have an amazing style that’s not necessarily like my style, but that I just admire. People who do their own thing.”
