DETROIT (AP) — Tony Finau won Sunday’s Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club to become the first PGA Tour player in three years to win back-to-back regular-season events.

Finau closed out 5-under 67 for a tournament-record five-stroke, 262-stroke victory. Taylor Pendrith (72), Patrick Cantlay (66) and Cameron Young (68) tied for second place.

Finau achieved the fourth victory of his career, a third title in less than a year. He was the winner of the 3M Open last week in Minnesota, where he came from five shots back to win by three. Brendon Todd was the last to win two in a row in the regular season, doing so in 2019.

Finau, a Salt Lake City native of Tongan-Samoan descent, began his streak of success last August at The Northern Trust, where he earned his first win in five years and 142 starts on the PGA Tour.
