When it comes to the traditional father-daughter wedding dance, many fathers and daughters choose to dance to a special song together.

But Nancy Krieger and her father, Ronald Lestock, decided to put a twist on their memorable performance, wowing everyone at Krieger’s wedding on November 12 and then delighting TikTok fans who were raving about their unexpected dance.

“When everyone thinks you’re pulling a prank on your dad…and then he joins in,” Krieger wrote in the caption.

Ron Lestock and Nancy Krieger’s father-daughter dance at Krieger’s wedding had a special twist.

The 22-second clip shows Krieger and Lestock taking to the dance floor at Cleveland’s Windows on the River venue and swaying to The Temptations’ 1965 classic “My Girl” before the track abruptly stops and switches to Usher’s 2004 hit “Yeah!” with Lil Jon and Ludacris.

The unexpected turn of the video caused many to react in the comments.

“Actually my jaw was on the floor,” one person wrote.

“This made me smile a lot,” added another.

Krieger, 30, credits her father with coming up with the dance mix.

“When we were deciding what dances we were going to do, we thought, there’s no way we can do just one slow song because we’re going to cry all the time and that’s awkward for me and all the guests, so my dad actually brought up the idea and said, “We need to do a fun dance!” Krieger told “Good Morning America.”

Lestock said that he felt they should do something outside the box from the start.

“I thought about it. I said, ‘You know what? Let’s try to do something different from Daddy’s old girl dance. You know?'” Lestock recalled to “GMA.” “So we thought about it and we each picked a couple of songs.”

“We definitely still wanted to have that slow dance, father-daughter moment at the beginning. So we went with ‘My Girl,'” she added. “So we did that and then I said, ‘Okay, you pick two songs and I’ll pick two songs.’ …the first song was ‘Yeah!’ by Usher, the second song was ‘Twist’ which was a fun dance to do. My dad chose that one. And then I chose Ciara’s “1, 2 Step” which was next. And then we closed it out with “YMCA,” which was really fun because everyone was doing YMCA. So it was a good mix.”

Krieger, who said she is “very close” to her father, estimates the two practiced every week for about eight or nine months before their Nov. 12 wedding.

“When I would go home, we would practice dancing in the living room and in the kitchen to throw each other off, so we could make sure we weren’t going to get nervous,” she explained.

And while she was nervous about performing in front of her now-husband Andrew and 170 guests, she felt it was worth all the effort in the end to share “such a special memory” with her father, family and friends.

“Everyone was shocked,” Krieger said. “We did our rounds at all the tables after dinner and that was the talk of the night like, ‘How long did you practice?’ So it was a good reaction.”

For all the fans online, Krieger hopes that posting her video can inspire everyone to make memories with their loved ones.
