FABULOUS FABRICS: mix of textures, ‘dopamine dressing room’ trend for winter fashion | News

Fashion trends for the upcoming winter season are taking multiple different forms, from metallic dresses to shiny patterns and lengths to some fall styles.

Kristy Eubanks, owner of Junie’s Closet, said various looks are trending for winter, especially the combination of media types and textures.

“It’s a lot of different textures and blocking of different styles,” Eubanks said.

Eubanks showed several pieces in her boutique with quilts, trims and color blocks, where bold colors are combined.

“Even in our skins, we have texture,” he said.

Shimmery fabrics are also on-trend for winter, Eubanks said, including metallics, satins and lamé.

“Coordination games are also popular,” he said.

Along with monochrome looks, Eubanks said the “dompamine dressing room” is very much in style right now. She explained what this style means.

“All the colors. All the texture,” Eubanks said. “You put it on and you feel great.”

Eubanks showed off two items as examples of this trend: a fuchsia blouse with bold, contrasting floral prints and a long-sleeved dress patterned with swatches of mustard, magenta, teal and black.

At Beautiquey and the Beast, owner Bryn Smith said her store doesn’t really stick with trends.

“We’re kind of a boujie,” Smith said, referring to clothing that is considered dressy from blue-collar styles. It is a shortened form of the French word “Bourgeoisie”.

Smith pointed to a few items that are popular with her customers right now, like some puffy coats from the Ciao Milano brand.

“They are comfortable, warm and flattering,” she said.

Smith said the coats don’t make the wearer look like the Michelin Man.

“They are for all kinds of people,” he said.

Beautiquey and the Beast also offers “mommy and me” versions of these coats.

Halle Kobriger, front office manager at Nine One Eight Salon and Boutique, said she’s seeing a lot of fall trends continue into the winter months, as temperatures haven’t dropped much yet so far.

“Really, it’s because we didn’t get cold weather until February of last year,” Kobriger said.

This includes “shackets,” a cross between a shirt and a jacket, and sweaters, among other items.

“We should put on our winter clothes sometime next week,” he said.
