Domino’s driver shares how much he earns in tips

A user on TikTok has gone viral after showing how much money he earns in tips as a Domino’s driver.

In a video with more than 750,000 views, host Allison (@allison_green0) shares a typical night of tipped earnings.

Over the course of 11 orders, he received $13 in cash and $42.29 in credit cards, not counting the gas refund. This averages out a tip of $5.03 per delivery, although many deliveries varied in terms of the actual cost of the order.

“It’s not terrible for a Monday, but it could be better,” he says with a smile. “But it’s not terrible!”

In the comments section, many users expressed their surprise at the number of customers who did not tip Allison.

“I don’t understand how people can agree to not tip,” wrote one user.

“If I can’t tip the bill or almost, then I won’t go out to eat or order food,” another stated. “TIP YOUR DRIVERS AND DELIVERY SERVERS!!!!!!”

“The way I would be absolutely mortified not to tip a delivery guy,” said a third.

In the comments section, Allison shared her positive attitude towards her job, adding that she is happy with her job and appreciates the advice she receives.

“…my hourly wage is $10, which I know isn’t the best, but my tips and gas reimbursement make up for it. And my paycheck is never seen [too] bad,” he wrote. In another comment, he added: “…thanks to those who are willing to [tip] I appreciate it.”

Commenters praised Allison’s warm spirit throughout the video.

“I love your positive attitude! I was a waiter/bartender for a long time and have a special place in my heart for people who work with tips,” said one user.

“I love your energy. Never change!! It will serve you well in life,” she offered a second.

“Your positive attitude is unmatched,” summed up another TikToker.

The Daily Dot reached out to Domino’s via email and Allison via Instagram direct message.

Update at 3:11 pm CT, December 30, 2022: In an Instagram direct message exchange with the Daily Dot, Allison said she was “a little surprised that so many people were upset that I didn’t get a tip.”

“…People have the mentality that I or any driver expect tips. Now I can’t speak for others, but as for me, I don’t expect advice from anyone,” she wrote. “I know there will be people who won’t have extra money for a tip or people who just don’t want to tip, and that’s fine with me. I do not need the advice of these people, and I do not expect it, I just do my job because it is my job, not because I want more advice or because I am waiting for so much advice.

There are many positive aspects that come with his job, he detailed.

“I love the fact that I get to meet so many people and I can make people happy by bringing them the food they want after a long day!” she exclaimed. “And it’s fun to drive all day.”
